10pm news last night - did anyone else catch it?

37 yes 37 top makes and different manufacturers ALL failed the UK diesel emissions test. Ford, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Mercedes, LandRover, Jaguar and Mazda are among those affected.

Find out if your car is on the list Link to the ITV website

Wonder whats going to happen now?

There has got to be some kind of action taken now by the Government, surely?

Happy 90th birthday Ma'am 22nd April 2016 10:09 AM
from me as well ,3 days before my wedding anniversary

Hope you have a great weekend & happy anniversary

Was sat munching a sandwich reading the BBC News website, nearly chocked when i saw the headline - US deal struck to buy back diesel cars

So basically if i bought my Audi in the good ole US of A i could make them buy back my car for lying over the emissions.

As we are weak and spineless this side of the pond i am being forced to accept a tweak to my engine, with no guarantee over performance or MPG issues.

Don't i feel just special

Wonder what make of car i won't be buying next - pity as i was pondering the VW CC

As it happens in 1975 the Government paid for the publication of both the YES and the NO referendum campaign leaflets. Which was fair.....Just a shame more people didn't spend more time reading the NO campaign.... as it seems to be factually correct....

I actually think that would be a fair and balanced approach to take, otherwise at the moment based on spend its biased towards the yes camp.

I'm still in the neutral camp.

Happy 90th birthday Ma'am 21st April 2016 1:59 PM

Just wanted to wish our great Queen a very happy 90th birthday.

For over 64 years she has lead our great nation

I shall toast her in the only tradition I know how later with a wee dram of malt

Who will be next? 21st April 2016 1:45 PM

Well another famous face has left us far too early, Victoria Wood, cancer strikes yet again !

Seems strange that we didn't hear about her battle until after her death

Another great from my era of youth, will be sadly missed.

You let who name the ship??? 19th April 2016 1:51 PM

What a PR disaster.

Surely common sense would have dictated that they would have put a short list forward of 5 - 10 names and let the Public chose from those.

The Government is going to defend its stance on staying in, so expect it to be biased in that regard.

There was a story that broke a couple of days ago but sadly i cannot trace it to back up my understanding of the facts.

Bottomline was that the Brexit campaign stated that the Government had acted unfairly in their expenditure as it breaks rules about to come in to force that limit that amount that should be spent on leaflets etc

Does anyone remember this or did i misinterpret

I think we have aired a few differing opinions on what fair is and what isn't.

As a Nation we all want something for nothing. Insurance companies are inundated with fake or grossly exaggerated claims for personal injury. You ask the man on the street if they have done it and i bet 7-8 out of 10 people will admit to exaggerating their claim as they see it as free money! Don't even get me started on PPI

Benefits are in a right sorry state. Too many free loaders who see it as a lifestyle choice not a necessity!

My personal favorite quote that i saw on Facebook a few years ago was someone complaining they had not receive their benefits and that they were broke, only then to go on and boast that they had a brand new Blackberry.

In my opinion, benefits should be means tested - if you can afford Sky TV, big screen tv's, mobile phones and take away meals 4 times a week, then you are getting far too much in benefits !

Benefits should be paying for essential items not luxuries as above. I have to work damn hard to have a nice car, phone, clothes and the odd dram on a weekend !

That's It... 12th April 2016 3:16 PM
Well, she finally died naturally tonight....... ”

Sorry to hear that Barney
