Yep - horrible deciding their future

Had to have a couple of cats put down, you know its for the best but doesn't make that heart wrenching decision any easier

Clive

Oh Barney that's awful, I am really sorry. Seeing pets suffer is awful.

And Clive.....choosing a woman over your cat, how could you? haha. I left my cats with my ex and although it was awful I felt like I was causing enough pain by leaving without taking them too. But I still miss them

Well the new medication seems to be doing the trick, she had 2 days where she ate nothing, just slept and drank water. Gave her ears a little rub now and then... more to see if she was still alive than anything else. Anyway yesterday she started eating again properly and the constant drinking is now under control, she goes out in the garden for a couple of minutes to claw some old tree stumps then toodles back indoors for another sleep. Last night she jumped up on the sofa for a hug and stayed for a couple of hours... Haven't seen her have a fit for a couple of days either.... So all positive at the moment, however she is an old cat, no idea of her age so who knows where we go from here...

Thanks,
Barney

Well, she finally died naturally tonight.......

Thanks,
Barney

Bloody animals! We lost our 3 cats within 12 months of each other from age related illnesses and one with cancer. All 3 had to be put down and I blub'd like a baby

Kids keep asking for either a cat, rabbit or a dog, so suggesting fish as better alternative. You can't get emotionally attached to a fish surely?

Have also suggested a robot pet which I like the sound of, no hassle when it comes to holidays, and no vets bills

Sorry to hear that Barney

Clive

Oh Barney, that sucks. Sorry

Thanks guys, well it came as no surprise I was expecting to have to put her to sleep last week, probably should have done in hindsight. The vet put the decision off by suggesting that we try a medication first, she had a couple of good days on it eating and drinking normally but the outcome would have always been the same. He also suggested that we could try dialysis but she would probably be uncomfortable with it, sadly the damage was already done and it reached the point of no return. Thankfully it all happened really quick last night and now she's underneath the cherry tree.....

Thanks,
Barney

Sorry to hear Barney .. I know the feeling ,you do get attached to them ,well I did with mine..

Beware of fish though , it's a easy word to say but is really really hard work ,you got weekly water changes, deep cleaning every other week ie cleaning out all the gunk in filters glass etc , not to forget to feeding and making sure they don't get sick .. I gave it up after 2 years of trying again

Went out this evening around 7pm back home by 9:15....... Christmas shopping completed Dying to use the bathroom, I left the carrier bags on the living room floor and darted upstairs, shoots back down stairs only to find one of my cats had sniffed out the turkey had carefully cut the polythene wrapper and was happily tucking into a £25 turkey...... Size 9 boot with plenty of expletives being shouted, Scruff the cat is nowhere to be seen Luckily for me I don't eat turkey, anyway I've pulled the polythene back over the meat and put it in the fridge... Hopefully everyone who'll be tucking in will be fine....Just not sure whether to tell them or keep quiet... ”

 Hopefully no one notices!
