Blimey thats a long debt..... 4th December 2014 12:31 PM

Chancellor George Osborne is to pay off the UK government's remaining debt from World War One, the government will repay the outstanding £1.9bn of debt from a 3.5% War Loan on 9 March 2015.

Blimey that's a long debt and what I don't understand is who we owe the money to?

Got home this morning to find the smallest book I've seen, the size of a small book but slimmer! Is this the end for the paper based directory, I must admit the last one was used to go under a table leg!

I agree, I think 'Alan' has got too big for his boots and certainly didn't like being outsmarted by a lawyer. That's the only reason he got rid of him, nothing to do with the actual task! I liked Felipe and thought he would go further in the process. I do wish they would bring back the home shopping task...I loved that.

For the first time in about 4 years instead of automatically renewing all of my insurances I have shopped around, with quite a saving. It is only when I have called to cancel that I have been offered better prices. It seems that the more loyal you are , you get the highest prices.

I just wondered if anyone on the forum used any kind of incentives for loyal customers to keep them from shopping around or whether doing a good job is enough.

Aldi it seems are not going to lie down and take Morrisons new ploy to gain custom with their reward card. Aldi have released ads containing the wording 'charge more and refund' and 'why not lead on price rather than price match.'

Have they got a point?

Just an update - the ASA have received 200 complaints about the ad.

It's been in the news I just wondered if there's any truth to it at all? If a cat sits in a circle will they stay there?

How to promote your business 19th November 2014 10:05 AM

So if my house had lead on the chimney, which it may have I have no idea, how would I know I needed your services? Would a surveyor tell me when I bought the property or would my roof start leaking? Just trying to understand when I would start looking for a lead roof specialist or do roofing companies subcontract the work to you?

I used these many moons ago and although the thought process behind them is good, in reality the counter staff get really annoyed with the ads constantly playing so either turn it off or turn the sound down. Me personally I use my local Post Office which doesn't have a screen. Getting to our main post office now is a parking nightmare

I guess they are trying to jump on the 100 year bandwagon. It's sentimental and does go back to the sentiment of Christmas i.e. it's about the thought, however how many people will relate to this is very slim as lets face it most of us would have shared the chocolate with our comrades who were on our side or eaten it ourselves..... obviously I would have shared it. Will this make me shop more at Sainsburys...No, my nearest supermarket is still Tesco. They would be better off giving all of the money for the ad to the RBL and using a simple message to say that's what they've done.
