Why can't SEO's be performance based? 16th December 2011 3:20 PM
I think it is harsh to look on the whole industry based on a few people. I could just as well say the same with plumbers and the plumbing industry.

There are good people and bad people in the world. SEO is an easy to fake/claim that you have knowledge and skill.

I personally offer first 3 months contract and then month by month, I dont like tieing people in to a long contract. I do first 3 months as it normally takes 3 months to see some good results (some times quicker), then if they like the results then they can carry on month by month. I have the confidence that they will carry on, and if they don't then either the niche/area they are in isnt profitable enough for them or they are cheap people and always trying to get things as cheap as possible.

I've seen people get to the top and then demand a cheaper rate, because its cheaper to maintain top spot than achieve it. Then they threaten to go elsewhere where people are offering this amazingly cheap deal if they dont get it cheaper. Then when told that they can but then it offers up being able to work with someone else in their niche who wants and needs it they quickly say sorry and that they were just exploring their options.

Now to a big reason why people don't like offering to work on performance base as it is hard to predict, but because they are ultimately scared that at the end of the spell that they won't get paid for all their hard work, time and costs they have had to bear.

I haven't done seo on performance base for this reason but if I had an iron clad contract and knew for 100% that the client would pay and not just run off and disappear, I would be happy to do it. But I would also ask for more this way as the risk is higher so I would expect to get a better ROI.

Hope it helps

SEO - how not to do it! 9th December 2011 1:20 PM
Hi friend if you want to improve your site's rank in google search engine then you should do social bookmarking and directory submission by these things you can get rank for your site thanks.

This will only rank you for your name if you have a uncommon name, otherwise this will not get you anywhere.

You will need to do a lot more than just these to rank for any real term that has some competition
I wouldn't of posted it if it didn't provide results for me...
How do you value a website? 13th November 2011 6:57 PM
Yeah go have a look at Flippa and some of the sales over there, how people are valuing their own site and how people are actually bidding on other sites.

But as Arfan said, normally its 12-18 months revenue gives you a good guideline of how much a website is worth

do you mean like how BNI does it?

So you know someone in most of the professions and if anyone you know needs a certain tradesman or service you just give out the number that person from the BNI group?
What do you reckon? 13th November 2011 6:07 PM
thats an interesting one, I got a lot of these offers for magazines (for sites I put up on Google) and they always seemed like a scam to me, never bothered declining them as I wasnt a plumber or what ever they were looking for.

What I would say is that it seems like it was a massive email campaign (may be not that massive) as it started with dear sir/madam. This probably means they got a list of somewhere and just sent this out.

No harm in asking for more info if your interested
Google Places reviews dissapeared 13th November 2011 6:02 PM
Don't ask them to repost if they have posted one before, but ask your newer customers to post a review of you on there.
Google Places Changing!!! 2nd November 2011 3:22 PM
As some might have discovered, Google Places seems to be doing some testing, changing the layout of Google Places and the maps on search results.

From my opinion this will definitely blow up the Google Places up and making it so much more important to be in the all import first spot!
Anyone been tempted to do Spam SEO? 30th October 2011 6:51 PM
I can't give you an example but i've been talking to people in a small community i'm apart of (full of IM'ers) and some do pure white hat some do pure blackhat and some do both, and the general agreement among this community is that blackhat is back and that panda has messed up the rankings a lot.

TBH its up to your own view on it, but I have been having a lot of fun with blackhat/greyhat. Its a lot cheaper/quicker/easier as long as you know what your doing...

I mean there is even blackhat for Google Places, this has probably been the best thing that i have come across. At first i thought that i did it all wrong but then all of a sudden i come back my listings are number 1, I only had to wait for google to update and boom its up there.

Again this is main for the people who know what they are doing when they are attempting blackhat.

And the thing with doing blackhat with revenue, you never, never put all your eggs in the same basket with SEO and making money off google. Wether its just adense, ppc, affliate marketing. best practice is to spread your income stream across multiple avenues. - all though thats pretty obvious

Ok some nice insights to how people see it all. And at least someone posted that it ain't such a bad thing..

The way i see it, there are 4 different levels

white hat
grey hat
black hat
stupid hat

White hat being clean, quality over quantity - but to be true i dont even think there is such as a thing as white hat anymore ( unless your facebook) white hat is meant to be natural, and natural being other people linking to your page, so the fact your doing the link building is then not white hat (in my eyes)

Grey hat - this is a personal favourite of mine, its what I call smart blackhat, in theory its just blackhat but you make it look more white hat than it actually is. Its a lot quicker and easier than white hat but safer than blackhat

Blackhat - this is what i call just spamming, you get automated tools that just go out and spread your link to everything it can find.. it has its perks

Stupid hat - is this copying and pasting, anchor link spam, all that crap which is just pure stupid.

i do the top three for different things, and in my eyes the Panda update has favoured the blackhat side of things.
