Yippee: My first order. 13th December 2013 7:35 AM
@BannerPenguin - i still get excited when i make a sale, especially if its been a while since getting my last sale.

It feels like Luck is coming back or somethin'

Gotta do the hoorah dance every once in a while anyway.
The Cold Calling Poll 11th December 2013 9:49 AM
I think for B2B, its almost a pre-requisite to doing business...

B2C, in the states, its very touchy, and quite damned illegal if you're on the do not call list.

What i really hate are the robo calls with the push 3 if you want to be annoyed by a real human ones.

My 2 pennies.

Where to advertise for less? 11th December 2013 9:45 AM
Whenever there's a vacuum, there is an opportunity.

If you zig while every one else is zagging, you'll find a lot of great gems and money left behind by folks chasing shiney objects.

Offline leaflets have its place, but you should find a way to hand off that task to someone else.

Its a $10 task...you need to focus on bigger fish.

Will SEO end In Future?? 11th December 2013 9:39 AM
SEO is not going anywhere, and just like the businesses that advertise using the Yellowpages (also not dead by the way...just not as sexy) didn't adapt when something else new and shiney came along, new opportunities will always abound.

I'm just recently, reluctantly getting my head around pinterest...I recognize its important.

I think the moving target of SEO will be alive and well for some time to come.

Congratulations! The best time to make a sale....is right after you made a sale.

Time to do a replay and pretty soon your business is taking off.

Once again, congrats on the win.

Is direct mail dead? 7th December 2013 9:13 PM
Direct mail is alive and well...especially in the B2B space.

One strategy that i STILL employ is to email prospects, track opens, follow up with a phone call only with the ones that have viewed the email and then follow up with a FAX....

Most businesses STILL have fax machines and the laws about using them in the U.S. are fairly lax and its still ok to do as long as you have a relationship with the potential prospect.

Hope that was helpful.

If I can chime in...

Offline marketing, not necessarily radio per se, will always have a place in marketing and it will always be viable.

Hasn't anyone here received an adwords coupon in the mail or how about a discount from amazon?

Most people don't put two and two together when they receive these things.

If its working for the big boys...why shouldn't work for you?

In the US, we also have the US postal service joining in by offering their every door direct mail services.

The offline stuff does and will always work, but you have to be smart or you'll be scraping money from the couch cushions for a while.

I'm not sure if you've tried classifieds, but why not, right?

I think they are still very viable, as well as power partnering with other local businesses in your area.

Ask for endorsements, reciprocate and network.

This should stoke the referral engine for you and if nothing else, will get momentum going.

I believe if you come bringing value, bearing gifts, and not just asking with your hands palm up...you'll get some traction really fast.

Was that helpful?

Hi Happy Camper,

If I may, I've gotten pretty dern good at marketing locally for folks and training others how to do the same.

The strategy most of my clients employ, and never fails....get yourself in bed with ideal referral partners who basically have a rolodex of all the types of clients you want.

The letters we send to these folks is usually in the vain of "let us make you a hero to your clients without costing you a dime and you won't have to lift a finger."

These industry or vertical lists can be cultivated through online directories or even purchased.

There will be nothing more powerful, in my opinion, then starting off getting an endorsement from the prospective clients own referral base, correct?

If you in turn offer reciprocity, you should be able to get alot of exponential, and low cost or free marketing help.

Hope that made sense and I hope it helps you.
