“Not sure if i can use myself as any kind of indicator as i am pretty unique
![]() All of my free newspapers and leaflets dropped through the door go straight into the recycling bin, i clear the mat as i open the door and walk to my green bin. Even those letters pushed through the door addressed to just the "house owner" go straight in the bin. If its not addressed to me personally i dont read it, even if it is addressed to me and then if its spam its ripped up in to a dozen pieces!” Hello Clive Direct mail is all about personalisation, and targeting the relevant audience. Data research is crucial, to ensure that your message is going to the people that would be appropriate. Direct mail is nothing to do with junk mail, if done properly.
Do you still believe in offline advertising? 26th May 2014 10:57 AM Hello Shakey You can't beat the sensory experience of real printed materials. These days, people often read print when away from the office, as they find it relaxing and a welcome break from their busy online lives, thus giving it their full attention.
Making a fortune storing our clutter... 21st May 2014 12:21 PM Our business recently moved from a building of 6000 sq ft. We had been there since 1972, so you can imagine how much junk had been acquired over the years. With a great deal of help from my brother-in-law, we had to be totally ruthless, and make sure that the building was empty for when the property developers moved in. Although stressful, the experience was therapeutic. Now, we need to work on the house. Just need to convince the hubby Rubics Cube - 40 years old today 21st May 2014 12:12 PM The Rubics cube always reminds me of my little brother. I never had the patience with the peskie thing. But little Bro, 14 years younger than me, was so cocky, standing there with the cube behind his back and still solving it perfectly. It wasn't until recently that he admitted that he would solve it to within a few moves before holding it behind his back to finish it off. Now, he is creating computer programs to solve the Rubics cube, just for fun!

“Offline marketing still has a place, people like things that are tangible, things that seem more "real", any way that you can give people something "tangible" that promotes your business is a good thing, although you can most certainly survive just on online advertising,I think really offline advertising is more of a "nice to have" if it is not essential for your business.”
Many marketers make the mistake of leaving direct mail out of the mix. Integration is the key. There are so many options now for including online links within printed materials, and it is evolving at such a rapid rate. Marketers can learn a lot from successful fundraisers. Charities are aware that a high percentage of online donations are as a result of a direct mail campaign, as people still like to receive real mail.
Stairway to Heaven-Copyright Row 21st May 2014 11:21 AM After all these years, it appears that Led Zep may have copied the guitar on a track called Taurus from 1968, by Spirit, with their opening riff of "Stairway to Heaven" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-27497950
Bruce Lee - Angel or Devil? 21st May 2014 11:12 AM Did anyone watch this feature on Channel 4 News last night? http://www.channel4.com/news/romania-tunnels-bucharest-orphans-photo I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it was like a scene from Mad Max? Bruce Lee, King of the Sewers, is feeding their drug addictions, but what would happen to them if he weren't there? They'd find a way of getting drugs anyway, but would be much more vulnerable. Seeing little Nicu's face near the end, with Bruce and his lady, told me that he felt safe and loved.
Google Glass 11th April 2014 8:06 AM Is this technology overload and a step too far? I'm sure it has its place, but where will it all end? Will I be rushing out to buy one? I think not. Who says men don't remember? 28th November 2013 1:28 PM A couple were Christmas shopping. The shopping centre was packed , and as the wife walked through one of the malls she was surprised when she looked around to find that her husband was nowhere to be seen. She was quite upset because they had a lot to do and hence, she became so worried that she called him on her mobile phone to ask him where he was. In a quiet voice he said, "Do you remember the jewellers we went into about five years ago where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we couldn't afford, and I told you that I would get it for you one day?" The wife choked up and started to cry and said, "Yes, I do remember that shop." He replied, "Well, I'm in the pub next door." |
