Do you still believe in offline advertising?

Doesn't it depend on your business?

Thanks,

Offline marketing still has a place, people like things that are tangible, things that seem more "real", any way that you can give people something "tangible" that promotes your business is a good thing, although you can most certainly survive just on online advertising,I think really offline advertising is more of a "nice to have" if it is not essential for your business.”

Many marketers make the mistake of leaving direct mail out of the mix. Integration is the key. There are so many options now for including online links within printed materials, and it is evolving at such a rapid rate.

Marketers can learn a lot from successful fundraisers. Charities are aware that a high percentage of online donations are as a result of a direct mail campaign, as people still like to receive real mail.

Not convinced. Why shell out for leaflets if you can do it digitally? Offline is expensive as it requires physical printing. I see it working for the local gardner or odd job man but most businesses need to embrace the digital universe. Prove me wrong?

Hello Shakey

You can't beat the sensory experience of real printed materials. These days, people often read print when away from the office, as they find it relaxing and a welcome break from their busy online lives, thus giving it their full attention.

Yes offline marketing matters a lot and still people are doing. Marketing with visiting cards, banner on roads, people references matter a lot.

Not sure if i can use myself as any kind of indicator as i am pretty unique

All of my free newspapers and leaflets dropped through the door go straight into the recycling bin, i clear the mat as i open the door and walk to my green bin. Even those letters pushed through the door addressed to just the "house owner" go straight in the bin.

If its not addressed to me personally i dont read it, even if it is addressed to me and then if its spam its ripped up in to a dozen pieces!

Hello Clive

Direct mail is all about personalisation, and targeting the relevant audience. Data research is crucial, to ensure that your message is going to the people that would be appropriate. Direct mail is nothing to do with junk mail, if done properly.

Kind of disagree with you, like i said though, i am pretty unique

ANY mail that i haven't requested i class as junk, no matter how targeted and it all ends up in the bin

I dont watch adverts on TV, i pre record 95% of all TV i watch (mainly because i'm so far behind with things) & then skip the ads - if i want something i will do my own research and gather any info i require before making a purchase.

Anyone else do that or am i on my own?

That's one word for it!

I  hadn't thought about this in this way. Insightful. It presupposes , ofcourse, that the printed material is high quality, tactile and something people will store up to read in their leisure time.

Really needs planning- when do people have leisure time ( sometimes enforced) - airline terminals, on aeroplanes, trains, doctors waiting rooms… how to get ones "literature" there at low cost?

Hello there. Yes the printed material needs to be attention grabbing, engaging, and should include "call to action" options, and is preferably part of a direct mail campaign
