![]() I can safely say we have now implemented most of your recommendation's, so if I disappear, we've either sold out to Yelp and now living in the Bahamas, or sleeping under a railway bridge in Birmingham That's good news! Haha don't go selling out to Yelp for anything less than 1.2m! Responsive Web Design - Do you use it? Do you understand it? 8th March 2015 8:36 PM Chances are you will likely see a huge increase in responsive websites over the next month too. Google annoced they (from the 1st April) will start to penalise non mobile friendly websites and hence add a positive factor to sites that are responsive. MY Local Services - SEO Challenge 3rd March 2015 7:38 PM Hi, This was only a test so only designed to give a slight boost. I also did a full SEO audit for Steve and the MLS team which showed up a couple of technical issues with the site. To be 100% honest I have no idea why they dropped from page 1, its not something I'm involved with currently, but I know their traffic hasn't dropped so not really an issue. Might just be temporarily bouncing around the SERPs. Dr Google is now in the house! 17th February 2015 5:20 PM Slight headache = Google = Brain tumour Slight worry = Google = Extreme panic
Email address on your company website? 30th December 2014 8:08 PM There are 3 levels here: 1.) The clickable email - This is where you have an email that looks something like this: tom@example.com, with the link being mailto:tom@example.com - This is the most common type of email link and gets a ton of spam, because crawling/automation bots pick it up and send automated messages to you. 2.) Normal email (non clickable) - This is where your email simply is in text, but as a result can still be picked up by automation and still get spammed. 3.) [at] - This is for people who get a lot of spam and know if someone wanted to contact them, its not too much of a hassle to remove the [at] and simply place an @. For example: tom[at]example.com - No automated spam (just manual) but more hassle for someone trying to contact you. Totally depends on what you want to do. The Apprentice Rant 23rd December 2014 1:30 AM Hi guys, Wasn't going to post this here as didn't think it was really that relevant, but it has kind of exploded. If you watched the apprentice final then no intro needed. If not, basically Mark Wright won with his digital marketing idea..... Except I saw a few faults with his plan, and this mini-rant I had about his idea, went on to get 1,200 reads in 24 hours.... And bring in a few leads. So if you want to here "some guy" rant: http://ghostmarketing.co.uk/climb-online-the-apprentice/ Let me know what you think. Tom. SEO in 2015 and the Future of SEO? 15th December 2014 12:16 PM Cheers Steve, Sorted that issue. As for HTTPS, I think the speed issue is a good point, but as long as you have decent hosting it shouldn't make a significant difference. HTTPS now is only a small ranking factor, but my thoughts are especially in the next 12 months, that Google is going to hugely increase the value of this. I won't create another money site without using HTTPS on it, but your right I'm not going to move all my non-earning sites over anytime soon. Saying that I think if you ever decide to change hosting / move servers / big redesigns or any of that its probably worth just getting the SSL. 2 birds and all.... SEO in 2015 and the Future of SEO? 14th December 2014 8:42 PM Hi guys, I just finished up an article yesterday, talking about how SEO will look in 2015 and the future of SEO in general. I don't usually self promote this type of thing, but I really think this article can help a lot of people not sure where SEO is going. Warning, its a bit techy and written for people who are SEOs or have a some SEO knowledge. Feel free to ask me any questions about the article itself, in this thread.
