I have nothing against poundland and they do have some ok £1 offers, but you do really have to be careful as you may only pay £1 but things are smaller in size, 5 packets of crisps instead of 6, 4 curly wurlys instead of 5.

Do these shops think consumers are stupid and won't notice?!? Last Christmas curly wurlys disappeared off the shelves as the shelf space was needed by more lucrative products and the only place that you could get them was poundlland!

The snob in me, prevents me from entering such shops. I've only just got over the embarrassment of being seen walking out of the likes of Aldi's. Tend to do so with my hoodie up...

Thanks,
Barney

Yup, it's wrong I know, but I'm also afflicted with the snob gene, haven't even managed to get into an Aldi's

Aldi do some good meats, but you do have to check carefully as i have also had a bad piece, but there again no different from the other "main" 4.

Not been in to the local Poundland lately - its always rammed and that kind of puts me off, but have bought cheap wrapping paper in the past

See you don't get quality controversy and snob confessions on your average SEO forum

Don't forget Lidl - pure class.

But back to Poundland, I agree with you, but I think some people like the simplicity of the maths.  e.g. If you've got £10 you can buy 10 items.     It saves having to engage brain!

I don't like £land merely as 99% of the stuff is pure tat and breaks within 1 use..So never really go in unless I am in desperate need of something ,like tape or glue lol

the answer to the question is yes  I think poundland is great. they know the country is full of dumb people which is why they do it. they have tiny margins so need huge volume. tapping into peoples greed and quest for a bargain without research is obviously a successful market. everyone can vote with their feet, but they dont

(Not that they'll worry about it but) I'm still boycotting Poundland because of their participation in the government's infamous workfare scheme.

If you remember, that was the one where claimants (including graduate Cait Reilly who'd been working away first in a paid career-relevant post in a museum, then an unpaid post there when the museum ran out of the money to pay her) were used as free shelf-fillers - the alleged purpose of that unpaid slaving was to make them more work ready!!!

Cait very sensibly said she didn't mind working as a shelf-filler but she wanted to be paid for doing it.
