Hi,
I started my business about four months ago and was wondering how to gain website traffic. I have starting building back links and submitted my site to search engines but still are not getting a substanial amount of visitors to my site. Any suggestions?
“still are not getting a substanial amount of visitors to my site” Can I ask how your are measuring the visitors - is it google analytic's? Some time it's about extracting more out of the visits you get rather than the number you get. tomsk
“Can I ask how your are measuring the visitors - is it google analytic's? Some time it's about extracting more out of the visits you get rather than the number you get.” I have been using Google Analytic's, My site is an e-commerce site and I'm very new to how page ranking and everything works.
Decide how people find you on the search engines, what do they type in to find you, eg "natural candles" Then main thing is lots of nice content, thats human friendly, but has nice placement of your key words in the text. eg We specialise in bespoke natural candles suitable for any occasion... waffle waffle. Also with your link building, get some anchor text with your keywords in, so "natural candles" links back to your website. Using your analytics, you can see which keywords are performing well, and where any traffic is coming from. That's a start anyway, and should hopefully start to bring targetted traffic to your site. I'm sure tomsk can be more help ![]()
Yep, I can as it happens. 3 weeks in and I am whacking page one on Google. Advertise here on the UKBD, their results are simply spectacular also have some other recommendations. Ohhh I promised I wouldn't plug My Local Services - The UK Business Directory again...Oh well so sue me ![]() Mike bonsai passion

Do you have any suggestions on how to do this.
Could you not get a real host, they are not expensive UK Hosting, Website Hosting, Web Hosting UK, Web Hosting - EZPZ Hosting have what you need for
Kip I assume that beautifullynaturalcandles market is in the USA because of the currency that the products are shown in and the contact address etc. But Kip makes a valid point about you own hosting that you can control your site etc , There is also some people that believe who you host with can effect your rankings, but for me that would only be the case in a very competitive market place. tomsk
Also would add that many people get stuck up on homepage being number 1 and not other pages: For example seo-webrankings-google-yahoo-bing-etc - Google Search Above is a google search for this thread , which shows that someone searching for "seo-webrankings-google-yahoo-bing-etc" - (clearly no one is going to search for this) But what is shows is that a title tag of an inner page can drive you very direct traffic, and in your case beautifullynaturalcandles all your title tags are the same therefore reducing your shots at being in a good position for a number of search terms rather than one. tomsk
You could submit your site to bookmark sites, submit articles, then people would go to visit your site, and you should know which is your keyword, then build backlinks with the keyword and make your site has a good rank on searh engine,it also could get your backlinks. |
