Was just reading an article on MSN about insomnia whilst munching on lunch.
Ii do sometimes struggle to switch off some nights (nothing to do with the 8 cups of coffee i consume a day ) i thought i'd read the article and was almost won over until i tried it to see how relaxed i became.
Bottom -line is you adopt your favorite sleeping position (no i didn't do this as was in the office) then breathe in for a count of 3, then exhale for a count of 6,repeat, and repeat until you fall asleep.
Lots of detailed analysis of why it works, except when i did it i was out of breath as i'm exhaling more then i'm inhaling.
Read the article and see if you can understand and how you don't end up with aching lungs ....

I struggle to sleep but find yoga relaxation techniques help. If you take deep breaths in and slow exhales it should help. It is more about focusing on your breath so your mind becomes clear of worries/thoughts from your day. Tensing and relaxing each muscle group in turn also helps.

hmmm, sat here at 01.38 so guessing this counts as insomnia. Trying a few forum posts instead of dodgy breathing techniques
