Steve,
I read on your blog about web hosting critical issues and I would like to share some thoughts.
Very true of what you said about web hosting. I've encountered my own issues with my websites hosting as well...Sites being down or missing backup data files. I would explain below.
At my beginning, I had my web hosting deluxe package from XYZ, where I created 2 websites. After one year, my web hosting expired and I switched to another hosting provider and transferred my 2 domains as well.
The transition was very painful! Before my transition took place, I FTP my files from XYZ hosting server to my computer files. What happened next, was a surprise!
After my procedure was completed, I discovered that one of my websites had missing data files! That was bad and too late to do something about it. So, I had to re-do my website from scratch! I lost all my vital inbound links I worked hard to obtain! I should have checked!
An unpleasant live and learn experience for me. Luckily, I had the time to do it. As I mentioned earlier, I am currently retired...with plenty of time on my hands. Actually, I am spending my time between my sites and my social networking groups.
Regards,
Florian
