Does anyone know where I can get some quality clipart images. I have been recommended this site, but I find some of the images a bit cartoonish, sometimes a bit childish. I am looking for IT related images.

Clipart - Download Royalty-Free Clipart, Images, Fonts, Web Art and Graphics

I don't mind paying a bit more for better quality images.

Thanks.

Ryan

The Flyer Expert | Leaflets | Flyers | Business Cards | Custom Print and Design recommended these the other day stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site all free, I usually stick with istock for quality, but there really is some good stuff on there, though not mooched for IT related bits buddy.

Thanks Kip.

I normally go to the usual places.

But on this occassion, I am struggling. Here is the type of stuff I am looking for. I may just have to stick with clipart.com

Peer-to-Peer Network:
Clipart.com Closeup | Royalty-Free Image of circle,computer,dancing,network,technology

Firewall:
Clipart.com Closeup | Royalty-Free Image of computer,defense,firewall,internet,network

Local Area Network:
Clipart.com Closeup | Royalty-Free Image of 3D, 3-D, "three dimensional", technology, computers, "file server", network, linking, communications

Small Business Network:
Clipart.com Closeup | Royalty-Free Image of body,computer,human,individual,network,people,person,persons,science,technology

Ryan, whatever you do, please don't use clipart lol! That new website looks far to good to be cheapened!

It's a good point, couldn't you have some original images commissioned that will fit in exactly with your site and brand? I wouldn't imagine the cost would be much for a few images.

Agreed - all the images on my site were commissioned originals by RachelCreative.

Admittedly it was more expensive than "up to 250 images per week for $14.95". It was about

Maybe you can try at clipartguide. Although some of their clipart is cartoon but you can still see IT related images there.

Kip/Steve,

I agree with you both. I am creating very simple beginners guide to some subjects on IT. It's all very introductory level stuff, but as we are dealing small businesses, not everybody understands what a server/workgroup is and so on. I wanted to use some pictures and diagrams, I didn't want to use things like Visio.

Although I have created some of the guides, I have not used any clipart images on purpose. My gut instinct said they just didn't work. I will probably commision someone to do some artwork for me. I will probably get them all done at once, when I have all the guides done. So, thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Mary, I will check out your recommendation.

On a seperate note, in the 2/3 weeks this site has been live, it has already started coverting more than the previous one. Hopefully it will sustain and continue to develop. It goes to show, that investments in websites can make financial sense and can give you ROI.

It was a stressful process, but I would not like to go through it again. Saying that, I may soon have 2 other potential sites in development...never learn.

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the early developments stages of this site...we didn't always agree...a lot of what Steve and Kip and various other people said was very constructive, I tried to implement different parts of the feedback (where possible).

Great news mate, glad its working out for you. I agree totally about investment, few people would fit and decorate out a High Street shop themselves, but in webland it seems to be standard practice in many areas.

Currently going through the same stress as MLS is under development with an outside design shop, and all of our faults have been laid bare warts and all But its exciting as we are only at the wireframe stage, but already the potential is obvious.

When we have something to show, I shall put a web review and gauge reaction

Look forward to seeing your new site...definitely exciting.

I think you've done well with this site. I obviously don't know the membership details...but whatever you do make it user friendly. What I know from another forum, they took a gamble and ended up making it less user friendly, they lost people in the process, and most of them never returned.
