Qype - is it worth it?

I've got someone from Qype calling me (again) in a few hours to no doubt chat about paid advertising on their website. I was just wondering if, from an SEO point of view, it's actually worth it?

They're saying that it'll do my site favours for its Google ranking, but all their links seem to be nofollow?! I understand that Google are now taking customer reviews from Qype (amongst other sites) for reviews on Google maps, but surely Qype reviews are just something I could push via my free listing?

Anyone had experience with them in the past?

There are a few threads kicking around about qype - probably best to do a quick google search for feedback etc.

However like all advertising it cost money and needs to work to get that money back - so do your homework before parting with any money on all of these types of services.

get yourself listed - but do not pay for any other services yet. I am sure these guys will become bigger as time passes by. (I have just joined!)

Will it accept USA sites too?

It only caters for European Countries at the moment I'm afraid, but no doubt they will have plans to take on the USA before long

I think the point to remember is that there are a multitude of other sites/directories that are US specific. Hence, submit to them instead.

Maybe this is a good place to start?

Interesting article. Obviously it's 2 years old, and with the subsequent layout changes, and move to google places, is the "citation" which was the web pages tab, now "more about this place" ? Or maybe we are seeing a different version in the UK?

Or am I looking in the wrong place?
