Building on from hdm's QR code info, saw this interesting post, how to use QR codes in marketing.

I may have give this QR codes craze a go!

"QR Code Uses

The uses for QR codes are endless, especially for marketing purposes. Consider these possibilities:

Hello Steve

I thought you'd get there in the end. Looking at your link, it doesn't seem to include QR codes in direct mail, so just to keep it all balanced:

Still not really sold on QR codes yet. Have used them on a few occasions but they seem to be used as a quick add on to posters and things of that nature at the time being. Currently seems to be for the bit tech savy or those quite interested in getting to know the brand that they're consuming a bit more but must say they are used for other purposes and can add value to a marketing campaign.

I guess the bit I woke up was where you scan this with your phone, say on a poster or flyer, and its a direct web link to whatever the product is, giving a traditional style marketing an interactive twist. So if you want more info there and then, you can get it.

Or at least it sounds good in theory... maybe worth a bit of time and investigation.

Has anyone else had any QR code success stories or techniques they can share?

Must admit it is interesting how the QR codes are now everywhere and yet 7/8 months ago people were asking,
absolutely no idea what a QR code is....

I think you're right Steve, it's all about increasing the interaction. Interesting article here about Macys giving users 30 second videos with fashion and decorating tips from the likes of Martha Stewart, Tommy Hilfiger....

It's clearly the way forward, another tool to add to all the others in the marketing online world!

Thank you all for following up on this thread.

With the speedy pace of life we lead these days, including a QR code on a direct mail piece is ideal for busy folk on the go, to read at a time that suits them.

We are not always near a PC, but usually carry our phone, and a quick click on the code gives an instant link to the relevant page of a site, wherever we may be.

Now 100% sold on QR codes

The show we've been exhibiting at the last couple of days has had them everywhere you look.

Best one I've seen so far was as a business card, but was actually a dice, with a different QR code on each side. One was the chaps FaceBook page, one was his website, one was twitter etc, very clever, and stood out from the sea of business cards.

Also plenty of codes on peoples advertising banners, as well as flyers and leaflets. Looks like they are taking hold very quickly!

Shall be ordering some new biz cards with a QR code on them

Question is will you be going for an actual "card" or dice?
