I think meta tags is something you can’t just ignore. meta description should contain a brief description of your website focusing on the areas and services that your business is specialized in.

Google does not read the keyword meta tag and hasnt done so for several years. The title tag is the most important meta tag. Meta description tags are not really used in rankings but are a good way to get your 5 second sales pitch on the rusults page.

If you have spent a long time doing keyword research and testing conversions for your keywords you do not want to then give them away by including them in the keywords tag, a quick view source and you have all you competitors hard work for free.

That's an interesting take. Must admit never considered that one, although there a raft of tools out there if you want to analyze a particular sites keywords.

Welcome aboard by the way

Thanks Steve

You are correct but why make it easy It was really aimed at the poster who said it was lazy not to include them.

I have over 10 years experience in SEO and run my own agency so I am happy to contribute. It makes me sad to see so much bad advice when it comes to SEO.

Glad to have you with us. The majority of business owners have minimal to little understanding of SEO, and in the start up phase, it can be too expensive to outsource, so always good to get some experienced views on the in's and outs of this black art called SEO.
