Hi all - haven't been here for a while; business has been busy, so not had the time

Anyway ... you may not be familiar with it - more of that in a while - but I was trawling through about.me and realised they've added the ability to "add" someone, to "favourite" their profile, if you like.

I decided to search through my Facebook friends and see who was on about.me that I could therefore start following.

I have 350 FB friends. BUT ... and here's the point of my post - only 2 of them are on about.me. I couldn't believe it. A lot of my contacts are people I have worked with over the past 20-odd years, and I have worked in a lot of tech companies, with real techie people, yet even so, they aren't on about.me.

I think it's a great resource for adding all your social media profiles and links to your sites, but it seems it's not really taken off as yet in the UK. And if you're a creative or a photographer, it's a great way of showcasing your talent by adding a fab photo or graphic.

What about you? Are you on there? Have you heard of it? What do you think of it?

Here's me, by the way, if you want to look at the site: about.me/clairekerr

So - would love to hear what you think about it.

Claire

Thanks for the heads up with this one. I have set up a profile (or at least started one).

My god Claire, you are everywhere Welcome aboard

Long time no hear Claire

Interesting site, must admit, I've heard of it but it became one of those "when I've got a spare 5 mins" as opposed to linked in or facebook where I need to find 5 mins

I suppose with the amount of social networking on offer at the moment, sites like this can get lost in the noise, but it does seem a pretty good potential tool to add to the armoury!

For many companies/people, I see it as a "nice to have", but it could be really useful in establishing a presence for freelancers and self-employed people before they establish a website.

And I really do think it's great for creative types. I love this profile, for example: Jasper Verweij (jasperverweij) on about.me

Have just edited the layout, centralised it all for people viewing on smaller screens or netbooks, love the fact that you can do that! Good stuff! Will see if I can integrate it to WP too
