Is Linkbait really helpful in SEO?

C'mon, if you understand what linkbait is, ie to generate more links, then why would you ask such an obvious question???

So Mint24, you asked the question, so what do you think and whats you're experience of it? Make this a worthwhile thread and not just a post count.

Looks like another kapilv

Anyway there is an article on SearchEngineLand about linkbait. I bet that's his linkbait.

Thanks,
fourth-monkey

I personally think Google are putting more emphasis on the traffic a page receives via their SERPs so rather than using linkbaiting to attract links I like to refer to it as traffic baiting to attract natural traffic.

What I class as a good traffic baiting technique is timing blog posts based on news stories and using catchy post titles.

I won't post a link, but do a search for "traffic baiting" and you can see an article I wrote about it.

Thanks,

I haven't tried link bait yet but now would like to see what precisely it is! In SE, now you need to learn each & every useful methods to put in apply.

i'd want to know something about that if they are helpful !

My definition of link bait has simply been good content. If your site has content others find interesting, then they will link, simple as that. But I suspect the search engine land link above is a more accurate description.

zutou - Is there a reason why you keep adding an image that doesn't display to each post? Have pasted it for info below.

[img]http://www.ukou.info/g.php[/img (have deliberately missed the closing bracket, otherwise it doesn't display)

Anyone know if this is this some kind of dodgy or underhand tactic, it seems to forward to cuoda.net?
