Holy Moly, what a week to take a break! When we left it was sunny, they had just announced a hosepipe ban and said the UK was officially in a drought.

Ever since it's been biblical rain and it looks like the local rivers about ready to burst

Welcome back Well, thankfully its raining now. maybe you could bring out the hosepipes again soon

Thanks,
Dreamraven

According to the lady on the telly, the grounds too hard so all the water is running away instead of soaking into the ground (obviously hasn't seen my backgarden!)

Being the UK, we do tend to flap. When we have snow, Scandinavians and Canadians laugh at us as our 1 inch of snow brings the country to a grinding halt.

Now its a "drought" with localised flooding I'm guessing we are the butt of many jokes across Africa

Naaa, not when we're forced to lookat ourselves. We have had a lot of rain over the last while, but there are still water restrictions that are in place. stragnely enough, I can remember as a child where my parents were warned not to water the garden until after 5 in the evening. which was never a problem as my parents both had black fingers

Thanks,
Dreamraven

lol, no green fingers in my house that's for sure, we're a bunch of plant murderers

What hosepipe ban, they are using it to get rid of all the flooded water. Nice holiday, Steve apart from the rain?

Thanks,
fourth-monkey

Nice holiday, Steve apart from the rain?

Toddler tantrums, static caravan parked in the Somme and 2 days trapped inside an industrial unit converted into a softplay warzone

But nippers loved it, so all that matters... me and the missus now need a holiday

To be fair, looks like we were actually quite lucky with the weather hearing about the rain across the rest of the UK, as we managed a few nice days out.

Stayed at Sandown IoW as a kid in the 70s. It pelted down every day with around 2ft of water outside the caravan, as kids we had great fun, not much fun for the adults who were hoping to sit on the beach for 2 weeks..... The funny thing is though in a few years time you'll look back on that holiday with fond memories, even though it was probably awful

Thanks,
Barney

My daughter leaves home on the 18 May...she is the third and final "toddler" to go (aged 24), the wife is very sad and I simply can't contain the joy

Booked a 10 day trip to France in August to celebrate, guess what? SHE NOW WANTS TO INVITE THE KIDS because the Gite "I" paid for can sleep 8 and it would be good to get together as a family, I just spent 20 years or so getting rid of them

lol we're already at the "it wasn't that bad stage". Another 6 months, it'll be the best break ever!

so it never ends???

Am planning a round the world the cruise for when we are 65, then when it docks, we'll go the other way round. In fact we'll stay on it till we run out of money, then we can sponge off the kids

Or if Yell buy us, we'll rent one of Bransons spaceships which should be working by then and retire to the moon
