Missing Google wrench tool in Chrome

Sorry, another techie question that I should be able to solve for myself but can't ...

The wrench tool is missing from the toolbar and there's nowt "user friendly" that helps me download it onto Windows 7. I've searched for advice but am turning up either old stuff (2006 - 2008 vintage for previous versions of Windows) or stuff which tells me I should use the (invisible) wrench tool to achieve subsequent goals.

What I want to do after I've got the wrench tool up is to download the Google page rank button.

Plse can anyone of you help me with both problems? Thanks. I've spent easily an hour getting absolutely nowhere! Linda

PR/Alexa toolbar

Is that it perhaps? I think you should be able to download it from that link. I tried now in FF and it moaned coz I wasn't using my chrome.

The missing wrench... you can try pressing alt and F, it brings up a drop down on my right hand side that you can get to settings etc. Maybe you can get to your preferences there?

Looking online for windows 7 I found one person from the google forums mentioning that they:

1. click on the tiny Chrome icon at the top left of the window framing.
2. a menu drops down
3. choose "display page in a tab

Thanks,

Hiya Linda

A little confused, as I didn't know you could hide the Google wrench icon?

It sounds like you either have an old version of chrome (I think it used to be a settings button pre wrench) or its bust!

Have you tried downloading the latest version?
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/

Reference the Google Pagerank button, this is much easier. Believe it or not Google don't seem to have one themselves, so there are a host of 3rd party extensions (plugins) that have been written for chrome.

Dreamraven suggested one, the combined Alexa/PR tool, or here is the one I use: PageRank Status

If you click the link, you can then add it into your chrome.
