Baidu is the number one search engine in China. In terms of traffic, it holds more than both yahoo and google in foreign countries. I would like to know how to optimize my site in Baidu.

Well for a start, obviously you need Chinese relevant content. Baidu also has it's own spiders and I've seen it crawling our site.

Here's a step by step guide from webconfs:

How to Optimize for Baidu

Anyone here have a good presence on Baidu? Must admit it's very tempting to build a site to target 1 billion online users! Anyone teach Mandarin?

Baidu is the best search engine in China. If you optimize websites in it then it will be the best for increasing website's PR on search engines.

Thanks Alice, good to see a response from a Chinese user.

Does the domain and hosting have to be in China, as I know our UK site used to get indexed, and I had to add an entry to our robots file to block them.

Or is it simply a case of getting better rankings if you are hosted in China?
