Thanks to Promostamper for highlighting this one

Companies House have released URI's (Uniform Resource Identifiers) for businesses. Basically by adding your business number to the end of a URL, you will see your business information presented on an official HM Government Page.

This can be handy for proving who you say you are as promostamper says:
Also you can to make things easier use the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) from Companies House - I have found it really really useful when dealing with companies as they can see I am legit. Here is the link to the Companies House website Companies House launches URIs . What it basically does is that you add their htm link to your site - i put it on my company registration number on my site - and when people click on it it is redirected onto the companies house registration information page about your company. When i was buying wooden toys from mainland Europe and they wanted proof of my registration I found that sending the link on my site and asking them to click on the relevant part saved me lots of hassle and as they could see it was a regulator site it went to they were happy and did not ask me for more burdensome info thankfully. I use it on all my sites now.

Here's an example of what you see, this is the page for JobsVitae. To see you own, just replace the OC371741 with your own company number.

Doesn't seem to work for everything, our Ltd company for My Local Services returns a 404 error, so maybe it's still being rolled out (or we've been struck off )

check on companies house page Companies House find company information put in the company name and if it does not come up click on dissolved, previous names or whatever to see what is up. As far as i know it should work for every company which is on their register.
