I am launching a new website. It's a very important project to me. I already have the site built. However, I am moving it to wordpress. I was thinking of launching the HTML version now, and when the wordpress version is ready then replace the site with the wordpress. As some of the page extensions will change e.g from abc.com/about.html to abc.com/about etc, is this a bad idea from an SEO point of view. It's not a big site at all. Probably under 10 pages at the moment.
I would like to launch ASAP to start the SEO work as that will take time. I also know websites are continuously evolving, so if I wiat for the wordpress version it may be one thing after another. Or am I stressing over trivial things. Let me know your thoughts or advice.

Probably under 10 pages at the moment. .” As indizine mentioned, the developer(s) should know how to permanently redirect(301) the old url to new url while keeping the link juices gained intact. There are lots of plugins which do that for you as well. All you have to do is to type old url and the replacement url. Thanks, fourth-monkey

I still believe that you have already asked your web designer. But if all would go well redirects and the other changes then i think i would give you a handy chance to optimize your website in a way you will be succeed because word press already give a number of seo friendly tools that are helpful in seo....So it is a good idea to redirect your site to a word press version...
