Yes indeed, quite a ridiculous scenario as it turns out! I must now really hit the jobs market to find some income. Consultancy is SLOWWWW for certain right now.

Don't get me wrong, I have had some good contacts from my site, but, and it is a big but....I work rapidly, and will not pad work out to gain income for the sake of it. I suppose when you know your profession pretty much inside out it just flows.

Have registered with numerous agencies but if they are as efficient as the one I have just mentioned then I am not holding my breath. You probably know, I am 55 on June 2nd and have been told just this week by an agency that I am rather old for many of the positions I am interested in. Age discrimination laws are not worth the paper they were printed on...I really don't know why the Government bothered.

We have property bought and paid for, but again, I think you know, we look after Mother in the annex, so downsizing to free up some equity is really much harder than it may first seem. Thinking of looking to buy a pair of semi's and we have one, Mum the other, fit an interconnecting door and voila. This could free up up to 150K which worked carefully may last until OAP kicks in. Hugely depressed right now which is odd and out of character for me.

That is 55....going on 25 mostly, it is just the saggy bits that let me down

Buddy, your down, not out!

Now snap out of it and read a book, like, Winning (Sir Clive Woodward) or the KFC story etc! Its how you deal with defeat that makes you a winner! Chin up bro!

Thank you Kip, it is having pals to share woes with that makes life so bearable. I have had a run of bad luck this past few years loosing all three of my great friends to one nasty or another. In truth I have only ever had seven close friends in my 55 years. They have all left and gone on, which kind of leaves you feeling quite empty.

My greatest friend ever (closer than close, could not possibly describe bond between us) passed 3 years ago in December; you rise above it mostly and get on, but sometimes....just sometimes it gets the better of you.

Must reassess, and figure out next move.

Chow fer now. Going to watch a good movie and tomorrow is another day.

Hi Mike

Think Kip summed it up nicely - down not out. We all have bad days mate, all need to vent some anger, frustration or just the blues.

Chin up buddy - attack some of that cider or red wine and come back fighting (albeit with a sore head )

Hope you have a good Easter break

Buddy, at the minute, I feel your words more than ever, but we are British, stiff upper lip old chap! We put the Great in Britain! Stay up! Tis much better than down!

Got to keep that optimism up Mike, I know sometimes with wolves at the door and your mind in a dark place it's hard to do, but keep at it, and you will come through the other side.

Look around you and you see we've all got our history locked away, and the deeper you dig, you realise just about everyone is battling some sort of emotional skeleton. For me, it was losing my partner from a brain heamorrage. But it makes you or breaks you. You have to dust yourself off and drag yourself forward.

Years later, I've got a beautiful wife and baby, and doing something I love. But I went through a lot of dark days to get here.

Business wise has never been a bed of roses either as Clive will testify, and we had our really stressful times in the early days, wages + bills = a lot more than revenue. In the end I had to become a mercenary contractor just to keep the business afloat, and if that hadn't come up, it would have been wagon driving or the Tescos bakery counter! But you do what it takes and you get there. They say 70% of businesses fail, but I'm a stubborn git that doesn't do statistics.

Someone said to me once it's all part of the rich tapestry of life, and everything happens for a reason, and I believe that. May not make sense at the time, or even years later, but stuff does happen for a reason.

Chin up mucker, park the brain in neutral, get some fresh air, and start looking at some of the positives. Or suck down some cider and twat a hoody, whatever works for you

But come back after Easter fighting!

Well not bad. you can work at home and earn money the same as you are earning if you're on the office.
