Saw on the news earlier that oil prices are at a new 4 year low, didnt catch the full technical's behind the drop but its to do with increasing supplies and less demand.

So is this good news for the motorist - can we expect a big drop at the pumps? Will haulage companies be able to reduce costs, meaning supermarkets will cut food costs?

Really looking forward to the savings I'm going to make when all the above happens ......

Looks wistfully out the window to see a pink flying pig

Well we can all dream can't we

Many people heat their homes with oil so this will come as good news to them as well...

Thanks,
Barney

How much of the savings will actually be passed on though?

Its like everything - prices shoot up when something increases, but takes revere to filter back down if/when the price decreases.

Clive

Its certainly not passed on straight away as the suppliers always use the argument that they have to bulk purchase at different times of the year..

Thanks,
Barney

How does this work then when it goes up overnight when prices increase?

They can't have it both ways - or do they

Managed to fill up at £1.20 at Tescos the other day, a combination of 8p off using Tesco points and a fuel price of of £1.28. Finally feels like fuel prices are going the right direction from the highs of £1.50+.

Sub £1 by xmas? Or am I seeing flying pigs with everyone else

The price of North Sea oil has gone down, a shock  for the SNP who based their economic policy for an independent Scotland on prices for North Sea oil to go up!
