...Val Doonican - can't believe I remember him.  I wasn't even around in the 60s, clearly he was still big in the 70s and early 80s!  Not quite sure why I remember him so much - must be my parents or those jumpers!

Anyway, he has passed away.  I guess, I'm reaching that age, when the stars from my youth (& before) are all reaching that old age, so will be disappearing one by one.    In no particular order Eric & Ernie, Eamonn Andrews, Ronnie Barker, Tommy Cooper, Richard Briers, et al....   all remain in my memory and I could name a few more...  even the great John Noakes  temporarily went missing the other day as he has Alzheimer's.

Gawd how depressing is this post - should really delete!

I know what you mean. I used to lust over Princess Leia as a spotty youth, now she's nearly 60

Remember all the superb Sunday afternoon war films with a famous cast list as long as your arm. Watched the Battle of Britain, a Bridge too far recently, and my personal favourite, Kellys Heros.

All jam packed with genuine stars and screen greats, but most of whom are no longer with us, or are now very old people you rarely see

It does make you feel mortal... I was in a good mood till I wrote this...

Don't forget Patrick Macnee.... He had a huge cult following in the 60s and 70s popped his clogs last week..

Thanks,
Barney

I definitely remember the jumpers! It feels like most of my childhood heroes are either dead or in prison for some hideous crime.

...and another, George Cole.    Minder was a classic.

Me too. Although my saddest death (famous person) is still John Thaw. Loved that guy. Morse was epic.
