Facebook results - Oh dear, $157m loss! 16th September 2012 1:49 AM
they've been on an acquisition binge and also spent a lot on stock compensation so there's a lot of non-recurring special items that should be excluded
What online advertising do you use? 16th September 2012 1:47 AM
take advantage of as many sources of free advertising as you can!

there is free classifieds, free business directories, blogs for product/service reviews...

if your website is well designed and can efficiently convert customers then put your small budget in CPC. Otherwise, don't get any paid advertising until your website can actually convert.
Leaflets Worthwhile? 16th September 2012 1:44 AM
leaflets are expensive! and most of them will end up in the bin... if your product is a niche product then you gotta project 99.9% of your leaflets will probably go straight in the bin without generating any results...

it works well for local restaurants and takeaways but not for anything else...

try food fairs where you can show off your products and directly engage people who might like to try your products
lol yes poor thiel... losing hundreds of millions has gotta hurt!

don't feel sorry though, the return on his investment is like 2000% in the space of 8 years... u wouldn't even get that with apple, which is probably the best investment opportunity available to the public in the last decade...
Aviva to cut back by 800. 16th September 2012 1:38 AM
we are still in the recession so we will probably hear more job cuts coming from big corporations whose 3 or 4% cuts translate into hundreds of jobs, which can have a big impact on local communities but the % is small enough that will not affect their operations...

probably best to look at it as glass half full, its still better than a big company going bankrupt, where majority of the people would be laid off instead of just a few percent
The problem is Google has such a monopoly in search traffic, it is difficult not to worry about the consequences of its updates. A small dip in Google search traffic is enough to wipe out double digit increase in Bing/Yahoo traffic and have a significant impact on any website.

If only the share of search traffic between the major search engines are spread more evenly.
the sheer size of china's population and their growing wealth makes it the ideal target for any consumer company
description is also very important. I've seen many sites with one word titles and blank description... those site's owners must not know or care about search engine traffic
EU seems committed to keeping Greece in the euro zone

the bail out will last as long as france and germany can afford it i guess and i think they can still afford more...

even if they can't anymore, maybe the ECB will decide that high inflation is a price worth paying for keeping the monetary union intact and print lots of euro to buy up italian/greek debts.
i like this forum better compared to v7n, digital point... ur points above exactly
