Best used car 14th May 2014 9:27 AM

My friend had the Qashqi as a company car. He thought it was ok but his wife hated it, but there again she didnt like his previous car which was a passat estate.

I loved his passat, drove it a few times. Liked it so much i bought a CC version, before trading it for my Audi.

Qashqi wise, its comfortable, great driving position. I found some of the interior a bit plastic, but guessing his model was near enough base entry.

He also had a VW Touran, but that again was a bit sparse on gadgets, except auto parking which is quite scary! Thats a bit bigger and has 7 seats.

Lots of different cars out there, only one i would recommend you stay away from are Renaults - i had 3 lagunas and loved them, right up until my last 1 that had a faulty gearbox, 3 months after its 3 year warranty ran out, needed a new bearing - wanted £5k!!! Did offer some contribution but not enough for my liking so vowed there & then never to have another, nor ever recommend them!

Love car shopping, or just waffling about them, keep us posted

New business in Macclesfield 12th May 2014 3:28 PM

I have an old insurance contact that lives in Sale, previously she lived in Reddish. Both are within 20 miles or so of Macclesfield.

Been to both her houses and they are in nice areas, guess like everywhere though there are some not so nice bits to them.

in reality is not much different than the gold star I used to get from my teachers at school....  ”

I never got them at school - fortunately my dad was a deputy head so helped myself to his stash in his brief case to make my books look better  dont think he ever clocked that one lol

I believe (rightly or wrongly ) that he has been given some bad advice and like all the other so called "stars" that have previously been found out, just let him pay his dues and move on.

Go one step further, just assume for one second he is guilty - if thats the case is he any worse than the MP's that lied about their expenses?

Bank Holiday season again... 12th May 2014 11:30 AM

Becoming a Non Smoker 12th May 2014 11:22 AM
Oh nooo! Don't do it  Go for a run, watch East Enders, eat a curly wurly, anything but fags

Watching Eastenders would drive me to smoke again tbh!!!!!!

I was recently around someone that smoked, funny she didnt mention it before we met up, but the not so subtle pungent odour of stale cigarettes hit me when she walked in. Strangely enough not seeing her again!

Think as a former smoker the smell of smoke is possibly one of the worst about, but that just sounds preachy

Think we need Albert pierrpoint back...he would show them how to get the job done. His record was 7.5 seconds from cuffing the offender to sending him on the long drop with a short rope....

Now thats what i call swift Justice

Another great video clip from the BBC of a skyscraper in the USA with a viewing platform that tilts out 30 degrees giving you a jaw dropping view from 1000 feet up - i will pass thanks !

Mentioned earlier in this thread about a botched execution in America a few days ago.

Seems now that an Oklahoma Court has reset the date of an imminent execution to November, giving itself time to work out what went wrong with the last one.

Seems the drugs are in the spot light again.... watching this with interest.

20 years on from Sennas death 9th May 2014 1:48 PM

Just catching up with free practice in Spain (dont tell Steve!) and noticed that i'd missed the story regarding Nigel Stepney being tragically killed in a road accident last week.

Sadly he will be more remembered as the mechanic involved in the spygate scandal in 2007.

Do you download illegally ? 9th May 2014 1:24 PM

Seems after years of shoulder sloping by internet providers the entertainment industry finally may get some support in the fight to combat illegal downloads.

Well when i say help, seems its a far cry from the fines and strong warnings and access to the database so the rights holders could issue fines, instead ISP's will send warning letters known as "alerts" . The first batch due to be sent to offenders sometime in 2015.

Not sure what happens if you ignore these alerts, or indeed the ramification behind getting one, time will tell but you can bet that the Entertainment Industry will keep pushing for tougher penalties!
