I'd be interested to know what was in the post you boosted?  I am yet to spend much on Facebook as I tried a couple of things and it didn't work. I was told LinkedIn was the best place for b2b leads but I haven't done much apart from revamping my profile. I think I need to interact on there a bit more.  So many social media types and so little time!

Spelling out why grammar matters 10th June 2015 12:53 PM

So does it? Arguably it does depend on your target market. There is a time and place for ‘txt speak’ and if you are trying to reach teenagers this might be the right choice for you. Otherwise you may find that your target market dislikes bad spelling and grammar. The BBC reported an analysis of website figures that showed a single spelling mistake can cut online sales in half. In today’s highly competitive world it is easy for a customer to find another company if they don’t like the look of a website. We are blessed with choice so don’t give anyone a reason to choose a competitor.

In business, trust is vital and you need credibility. We are constantly reminded by ‘Rip Off Britain’ style programmes that rogue tradesmen and scams are rife, especially online. Misspelt words or inconsistencies on your website may make people question your company.

Everyone is proud of their business so make sure it is seen in the best possible light. The perception could be that if you don’t care enough to correct mistakes then maybe you don’t care about your customers.

Obviously I am biased and would encourage you to employ a proofreader, but at least get a colleague to check what you’ve written to ensure a fresh pair of eyes sees and eradicates any typos or mistakes.

Now It's Not So Good To Be Green 10th June 2015 12:40 PM
Hi Linda, I'm only getting dribs and drabs at the moment, but I do follow a guy called David Lenigas on Twitter He's the chairman of Rare Earth Minerals Plc and numerous other companies including UKOG and has a huge cult following among investors and makes them a lot of money. He has no problem conversing with plebs like me on Twitter, so you should be OK if you were to drop him a question. Once the price of oil plummeted, that's where I stuck all my money because there was only one way it could go, which was up. But getting involved with that kind of led me to Rare Earth Minerals which mines for lithium and other resources, lithium is what they are after though and Tesla is where a lot of the technology is coming from. Because I haven't got anything tied up with the battery front, though I may in the future as this market is moving at an incredible speed now, I cannot be of any more help than that....

Do you think Nanotechnology is the way forward for energy storage? I recently studied it as part of my degree and it is fascinating stuff!

Facebook? 10th June 2015 12:35 PM
On this topic, has anyone got Windows 10 installed and ready to roll out in July?”

I have signed up for the 'reservation' for it. We shall see what it is like!

Oh no, not a speeling error... 9th June 2015 3:59 PM

Becoming a Non Smoker 9th June 2015 1:37 PM

Well done to everyone who has given up. I did it cold turkey...must be 12 or 13 years ago now?! It's like a lifetime ago tbh! Having no smoking in pubs and restaurants is lovely. It's strange to think the generation growing up now will never realise you used to be able to smoke everywhere. I used to work with an ad agency where they smoked at their desks, no joke for the non-smokers!

Game Of Thrones Season 5 9th June 2015 1:34 PM
Feel like I'm missing out, it's something I've never seen but heard lots about

You MUST watch it!! Did you like Breaking Bad? Please tell me you've seen that! Unless you don't like swearing...

I would love to use Pinterest just because I really like it, but that's because I enjoy looking at unachievable craft ideas! Although my husband has built an awesome sand pit out of pallets based on photos from Pinterest! I can't see it working unless you actual products or can connect to the craft side somehow. I guess each Social media has its strengths and weaknesses! I could see it would be marvellous if you make wonderful cakes!

Barney hits a 1000 posts! 9th June 2015 12:01 PM

1000 is impressive! I used to be addicted to twitter (I met my husband on there) and Facebook often wastes much of my time but I do appreciate this forum.  Not only do we get some interesting conversations but there's a good mix of views, which I like.

update-dealer got in touch, turns out i was right and he was wrong the small van i was interested in he told me had defo 3 seats in the front  actually only has 2.    to try to make amends he offered to sell me an 8 seater minibus ,...i can bring it round for you to try in half an hour....”

I'd be so tempted to keep him dangling and running around trying to get the sale despite having no intention of buying from him.  They sound like rip off merchants!
