One of the kind of posts that Pinterest is known for is its DIY Projects, Inforgraphics, and Easy to do Activities. If you can do an original post like it, im sure you will get more exposure and reach compared to the usual posting of quotes, photos, etc...

Pinterest can be really useful if you want to promote products that you sell. Obviously the more products you have the better as it means you can have more original content.

The best thing to do is to sign up and make a board that is focused upon the products you sell. Upload each image and add a few words about it, along with a price and then even a link to where that is on your site.

Then to help build up more interest, and increase your follower base, make some other boards that can be filled with pictures of things you love as a person. You don't have to upload these yourself, just create the board and then find images from pinterest and 'Re-Pin' them to a particular board.

Over time, the more re-pinning you do, the more images you upload and the bigger your board gets you will gradually and organically build up followers to your boards. But don't expect pinterest to massively increase your sales overnight as this wont happen.

ALSO DONT FORGET: pinterest is for picture lovers so make sure every image you upload is a high res image, any rubbish images and nobody willm like them.

Hope this helps

I've been thinking of using Pinterest for my business after seeing one of my competition on it.

So I signed up, but now I don't have a clue what to do with it.

lol you're as bad as me

I'll confess to not even logging into pinterest for about 6 months. I get occasional emails telling me someones liked my pin or whatever they do, but after spending some time initially to set it up, see minimal to zero traffic from it, and can't attribute a single sign up let alone a sale.

I think with a lot of social media, you simply need to prioritise. Try things, but if they don't generate results move on. There is so much choice now, and different things work for different people.

I still like forums because there is genuine interaction. Facebook is a simple "like me and I'll like you" strategy, although we do get quite a lot of traffic, and a few signups. Google+ I'm still tinkering with, mainly because it's Google and I know sooner or later it's going to be a benefit!

Then I have masses of other ones I've signed up with like Quora or Foursquare which are now collecting dust in the "must have a play when I have some time" folder

I am still really confused by Pinterest! I just don't quite understand how to get the boards up and running. I think I'm just too old (at 28)!!! Technology seems to be better suited for the teens nowadays, I need a manual to get through my facebook. lol

Thanks,

Jeez - me too - 28 & the towel is being thrown in! I have no chance then if the youngsters are admitting defeat so early on !

I would love to use Pinterest just because I really like it, but that's because I enjoy looking at unachievable craft ideas! Although my husband has built an awesome sand pit out of pallets based on photos from Pinterest! I can't see it working unless you actual products or can connect to the craft side somehow. I guess each Social media has its strengths and weaknesses! I could see it would be marvellous if you make wonderful cakes!

I think I can safely say pininterest has well and truly fallen off the radar! There doesn't seem to be as much hype about as there was 12/24 months ago, unless I've tuned it out.

agree it's very niche and can no doubt work well for some things, but certainly not for us. About the most success I've had are my holiday snaps of Indian lorries and the odd funny cartoon.
