“I used to be addicted to twitter (I met my husband on there)..”
How on Earth do you meet someone on Twitter? #ellodarling

New DVLA rules as from today - car hire confusion? 14th June 2015 10:49 PM Last I heard camera wise, most of them had been switched off as the local authorities couldn't afford to maintain them. I know the one I see on the way home from work got blown up by the Warwickshire Militia over 6 months a go and never got repaired. Meanwhile the death trap road outside our kids school doesn't even warrant a lollipop lady, but that's a different rant What was your favourite children's TV programme? 12th June 2015 4:21 PM Saw on the news this morning some serious headline stuff, the clangers are back!
www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33105760 Sat down with my girls all excited to watch the new Thunderbirds, I loved it, they thought it was rubbish and not a patch on My Little Pony Anybody else get "junk" mail from streetlife 12th June 2015 3:57 PM I logged on to it once, years ago and get occasional spam, that someone local to me 35 miles aways is moaning about broadband, and appears to be a conversation between 2 people. So doesn't seem to be very busy in the Stratford area, plus it is an archaic system last time I saw it Windows 8 our first impressions - (Now upgrade to Windows 10) 12th June 2015 3:52 PM
“Thanks for that info, Steve.
You'd have thought Microsoft would have contacted Norton over its new "baby" beforehand, there've been so many earlier niggles about incompatibilities. ” looks like someone's been shouting at the Norton engineers What was your favourite children's TV programme? 8th June 2015 11:57 AM I was kind of hoping it would bring you home again, although could be a good way to spend the retirement, bit of piece and quiet New DVLA rules as from today - car hire confusion? 8th June 2015 11:32 AM
“This is preposterous! It sounds like a debacle. ”
Government IT projects? Nahhhhhhh Maybe they could roll out a Costacoffe type card, and it has 12 stamps. When you get to 12, you send it off and wait a few years for a new one. Or combine it with your Tescos card, they seem to work all right Never had any points, you've said it now.... Now It's Not So Good To Be Green 8th June 2015 11:26 AM
“The EU has now ruled that the 5% VAT charged to homeowners for installing renewables is illegal and must now be set to the standard rate of 20%. EU ruling”
Reading the article, it looks like it's more of a case of politics and red tape rather than a black and white decision: However Dave Sowden of the Sustainable Energy Association, which represents companies that install and manufacture energy-saving products, said he believed HMRC could preserve most of the reduced rates if it simply justified them on different grounds. The current reduced rate that has been ruled illegal had been justified by the UK government as fulfilling a social policy objective. HMRC could instead apply to offer the reduced rate through an exemption allowed for home renovation or refurbishment, he said. So it's the way the current reduced VAT has been classed in EU land. A wrong tick box on the red tape EU form which looks like it can be amended. No doubt this will happen behind the scenes, and they could have discussed this and resolved it privately, but no doubt it wouldn't sell as many headlines or give any political cross party sabre rattling. Interesting take though looking at the total cost, using the scaffolding analogy, which is charged at 20%. Guess it's going to be harder to police if rebates are only given for renewable work. If you need scaffolding for to fix a chimney, but claim that a solar panel needs a clean while they up are there, would that then save 15% if they brought in for related subbies and services? Make all house building/maintenance 5%. Then I suppose where does that stop? paint, wall paper, toilet roll? All very confusing Finally, I am officially sexy 8th June 2015 11:07 AM
“Mwhahaaaaaa what a load of cobblers! :-D”
Ladies please, I'm hurt New DVLA rules as from today - car hire confusion? 8th June 2015 9:45 AM DVLA has had some flak recently over it's plans to scrap the paper portion of your driving license. The problem is, although it seems daft to have a photo ID card and a paper portion, the paper bit is the important bit as it shows any convictions. The DVLA plan is to move this information online and scrap the paper part, which sounds great But there's a typically British solution, if you go to the DVLA website before you go on holiday, they will give you a code, which may or may not be asked for DVLA CEO has hit back with criticism, "they could save their driving records from the DVLA website as a PDF file and store them on their mobile phone, and show any rental company if needed." Or we could just keep the paper portion of our driving license.. Great quote.. "The government has defended the new system, saying it will save millions of pounds, and reduce red tape." But confuse half the population, as well as foreign car rental companies. Just to finish the story off, "The new arrangements are valid in Britain only. Northern Ireland has a separate licence scheme." 'nuff said... Story source: BBC - Car hire industry says DVLA is 'rushing in' new rules |
