I was surprised to get a letter in the post the other week advertising about a new Community website, streetlife.com "inviting" me to join...   (yes in the post!)

...having looked into it further,  it seem to have been around for a few years.  I've logged on and I can see the potential but I don't find it that easy to navigate, but there does seem to be a fair few people posting and communicating, so it may succeed?   Or maybe it already has looking at the number of people on it.

Curious to know if anybody else has any experience of it and if they too had an old fashioned snail mail postal "Invite to join"!

It is because you can't seem to go beyond your own geographic area.

I logged on to it once, years ago and get occasional spam, that someone local to me 35 miles aways is moaning about broadband, and appears to be a conversation between 2 people.

So doesn't seem to be very busy in the Stratford area, plus it is an archaic system last time I saw it

Yes - agree, not very user friendly.  I wonder if they're sending post to targetted areas.

I am on my local one! I used it once to try and borrow some parking permits last minute. It didn't work but someone did advise me about new parking permits. I actually stepped outside and spoke to a neighbour in the end...I haven't looked at it again really! They email me all the time.

I am on my local one found a local electrician on there also found out stuff about a business park developing near me, and some other useful local conversations.

I keep forgetting to look on there! Might even get some business if I interact with people I guess. So many online networking opportunities so little time...
