Starbucks 3rd November 2012 7:39 AM
I say its wrong, its like hammering smaller companies with taxes and letting go the market players. This is wrong for the small entrepreneurs that they do the tax paying and bigger fishes like Starbucks enjoy heavy profits without paying tax!

Nah.....I don't think its as straight and simple as you make it to be. There are infact a lot of complexities involved in taxing. Both have to pay, but when your returns are higher you just end up paying more. Hence, the need to avoid taxes then.
there was this couple I knew who started their own business, initially were very law adhering and all that. But as business picked the taxes were going almost higher than their profits and so they had to start avoiding it.

Cold calls 31st October 2012 1:16 PM
How do you make cold calls. What is the trick to get your prospective client hooked to your offer be it selling a car, insurance or a loan. What should be the best opening line. How do your fix up appointments. Share your views and help me out on this.

Agree with Barney. Cold calls are just horrible. Try to call the right people. I mean identify your customers first and then try to get in touch with them. Your effort will definitely show results then.

what is best to advertise business in 31st October 2012 1:04 PM
In my openion Google is best for advertising the business. And you also do advertising in Social Media Site in Facebook for more visitors.

Of course how could I forget Social media. It is the best platform to promote your work or atleast make people aware of it.
There are a few drawbacks of franchising but overall its good in terms of profits and in terms of reaching customers. the drawbacks may include; maintenance of quality and deliverance of product/services. But that can be overcome through Quality Control and Quality Assurance.

You should recheck with your franchising I am sure your perception will change!

Oh yes....got to agree with that. It may be a little difficult for the top authorities to monitor each and every little detail. But then again you must hire right.
The future of advertising... 31st October 2012 12:56 PM
I think you mentioned on another thread about using an accountant's site for their free tools, I think this could be a good way to advertise, in a way. Instead of having the advertising in your face the whole time, offer suggestions or some such. There are a lot of genuinely curious people out there, and if someone tells me that they have something that can help me, and I know they have a good web rep because I am using one of their free products, I would be more inclined to go take a look and give them the benefit of the doubt, so to speak. I guess subscription services could work the same way, but what I've noticed, is that without some sort of web presence, or reputation, you have to work a lot harder to generate anything, let alone a conversion or two. (IMHO of course )

Agreed.....these advertisers must stop throwing it in our face. Infact, the modern way of marketing lets you choose your customers i.e. who you are going to advertise to. This can be done with modern tools of identifying your target audience etc.
Suggestion for Business Improvement? 23rd October 2012 10:09 AM
I think a collective response is better. It will bring forth better and more ideas. But in the end, decision should be the management's after keeping all factors in mind.
