Bank Holiday season again... 5th May 2014 4:43 PM

It might be the case that the Easter was very close to May bank holidays. In Sweden, businesses tend to have up to 6 weeks closure time over summer, so doing business there in June/July/August could be a nightmare... Germans can't contact their employees after the business hours, and the French are about to introduce another similar bill.

I do believe these things are far worse for business than a couple of bank holidays here.

It's the shame he is not going to be in the Dragon's Den again. This TV show is really great opportunity for the start-ups and it shows how entrepreneurial and innovative our nation is!

Generic Top Level Domains 29th April 2014 11:28 AM

I think that this is very new for Google and their algorithms, so it may be just too early to justify the real value of these domains. However, I do believe they are excellent to show your business, especially if you needed to purchase the domain not very connected with your name (because, e.g. someone else has already bought the original one)

Anyway, they don't cost too much (I've seen offers of £15.99 or less per year), which isn't a fortune, especially if you buy the one that you really fancy.

So why don't you elaborate more and explain what happened, and what contact you have had with the company, that is causing concern?

Yes, if you could explain it, we'll be able to help you with legal issues as well.

Have you tried re-gaining the access to this business listing by getting the postcard again?

I know it's a bit of hassle an a week of waiting, but might be a help of last resort...

Business Listing 24th March 2014 2:23 PM
Well, any kind of business listing will charge you for premium services, they have to make money out of it anyway.

However, it really depends on the method they're using to convince you. If this is simple call or an e-mail with all the benefits outlined, that is fine for me.

On the other hand, Yell.com specialises in very hard phone selling. They even have the policy to never hang up, unless a customer hangs up first.
(well, at least in my case)

Business listings are great things to promote your webpage locally, so provided they won't charge you too much, it's worth a try

OK, great article. I'm sure it will add value to our business advice collection.

Our article about Analytics should be ready over the weekend.

Hi,

That is an amazing idea! I am wondering if you would like to have something like "5 Things you dind't know about Google Analytics"?

Let me know what you think.
I think, when it comes to the mobile websites you need to consider three main things:

1. The website needs to load fast - no one will want to wait long on mobiles, and they may incur additional charges for mobile broadband
2. Everything valuable should be within a range of thumb (buttons, calls for actions, etc.)
3. Scrolling is cool, clicking on tiny links isn't - so make sure your links are smartphone-optimised (by adding tags to the labels) and no too small to click on.

Lastly, having a online contact form or a button with direct "call me" are also beneficial.

Remember - you've got just a couple of seconds to get the mobile user's attention!

Anyway, thanks for the post, I can't understand people who think mobiles and tablets are silly things for tech geeks and there's no point in making the responsive website.
