I have been reading about it recently, so thanks for you post, Steve. I believe that semantic search is another step of the web evolution, so I am happy to be one of those, who managed to follow the whole process.
I imagine one day my kids asking me: "So, you are telling me that people have managed to live without Google 30 years ago?"

Do you follow closely your competitors and try to predict their next step or you are simply putting all of your efforts into building your own business wiith having just a quick look on your competitors. Personally I think it is good to keep an eye on them , how ever it is more important to think on developing our own business. The only thing we carefully follow is that we need to make sure we actually have the lowest price of our legal document templates if we state so.

How about you? Do you know your competitor`s business better than your own or you care about them to a reasonable extend and focus more on what you do?

Yes, I am being very careful with self promotion, as I had a few warnings before (on other places), so I am trying to avoid this. Does anchor text work for you?

Word of mouth is may be the oldest way of promotion, however we cannot rely only on this

Yes, but can you give some ideas on how to promote your business in there? For example I am answering many questions, buy I am using my real name and I am not mentioning the business? Am I allowed to post links towards our site or direct users to visit it?

honestly, I have always been quite suspicious of those business awards, although we don`t mind winning some!
