So another High Street big name shop will be confined to our memories as a buyer has not been secured for the floundering company.
Its not just the 11,000 jobs on the line as I heard on the news earlier that their pension would also be slashed.
I get that most pensions are based on final salaries etc, but how can the pensions pot be diminished? Isn't that fraud/theft of funds that are nothing to do with the collapse of the firm?
Clive
This seems like another Maxwell escapade and I'm pretty sure that after the Maxwell fiasco, laws were put into place to prevent company bosses from accessing / robbing their employees pension pots........ Thanks, Barney
I still don't understand , just the other day the radio was saying it had a new director who started on the floor and had worked his way up ,now it's closing
Personally, the only things I found good about BHS were their lighting, swimwear and towels. Clothes were not good quality. They were even considering reopening food outlets in some towns; something they did unsuccessfully a few years ago. Some of today's newspapers are carrying stories about Philip Green's attitude towards employees. Not a surprise given his behaviour towards Frank Field. I don't think removing his knighthood would make much difference; he needs to be hit where it hurts, really hurts. Perhaps he would like to share a cell with Mr Chapple (or however you spell/pronounce it). JuliaP
I worked for Bhs in Reading in the 1980's. Back then it was a lovely company to work for. I think Phillip Green should be throughly ashamed of himself. All those loyal workers who went to work every day to keep those stores open and running, helping to pay for the lavish lifestyle he has given himself. He should be made to pay compensation to all those hardworking staff. Thanks, abfabcards
It was a terrible shame, I do wonder what the outlook is for Debenhams. Will they be the next BHS I wonder? It makes you think about company pension schemes. My friends husband has had two previous pension schemes go bust with little chance of recovering anything. Angela My views & opinions are my own
A Qatari company has resurrected BHS. It will be an online store only, selling lighting and home furnishings. The only two things I've ever bought from there with any regularity, especially their towels. I've also seen another report adding clothing, which won't make me a returning customer....
