OK guys, so Lars said on the teaser launch, that they wanted to create email today as if it had not yet been invented, how is it fairing so far?
I for one am loving it, the chance of showing clients work without needing to ftp or email files is a huge plus for me, have created a couple of really basic video tutorials for anyone on the fence, or new to it.
Hope they help Kip FX Video Tutorials for Google Wave
Nice one Kip Heard lots of hype about Google wave but didn't really understand what it was. Just having a look at your tutorials, so its a kind of interactive forum, meets MS Sharepoint & Domino Teamroom type of thing..
Pretty much, where it wins is totally editable between aswell as after any previous comments/chat, so if you and I were doing some copy proofing, we can do it on the same document and see each others changes, instead of emailing etc, which is a pain in the ass sometimes, imagine if we had this when resloving GA coding for example. I can see this becoming an office app more than a social utility
So it really is just a googlised version of Sharepoint then, a collaboration work flow tool. Another app for the google operating system ![]()
Not far off, but as usual, it has a lot of extensions etc that are used in other apps, one place, one window, for me its awesome, but I do feel its taking away from the smaller companies who spend years developing a program, only to have another larger copr adding it for free. But it works!
i never really understood wave that and google wont give me a invite Ryan

“Hi Kip, I'm getting this on the link when I click it: Not Found The requested URL /2009/11/03/google-wave-tutorial-2/ was not found on this server.......” Ditto. Also, whilst you're reading this Kip, you may want to rethink the wording for those members not logged in to Plugged.it who get the following message when they click on a profile. An Error Has Occurred You must be logged in to view this page. Click here to login It's not really an error as such? If people are new to the site and just browsing then different wording may be more appropriate... Whoops, you need to be logged in to view this page. Click here to login or if you don't have an account, you can sign up here! Just a thought... my 2 cents worth. Now I better go and sign up!! ![]()
I'm finding that, like a lot of Google things, you really need to start using it in order to learn how to use it. VirtuallyMary |
