see Linux/Unix is all well and good for web servers and running databases, and IIS should never be allowed past the firewall, but not convinced its there yet as a serious alternative for M$.

If you have techie/geek users its fine, but your average business user wants familarity, ease of use, which is what we had with XP and Office 2003.

Just frustrating they seem to have gone back to the bad old days of pumping out new products like a sausage factory

Office users should stick with windows, as they will be already trained on it. Our company has websites running on IIS, we don't have any problems. Linux is open source so you can have security issues unless you get a vendor flavour like redhat.

Stay with what works, period. Vista was a massive flop for MS. 95% of their OS sales come from corporations who upgrade their employees PC's. That didn't happen for Vista. Hard to imagine that when they had hundreds of thousands of beta testers eh?

They got it wrong and very few corporations upgraded. That's why they rushed to fix the mistakes they made in Vista and called it "Windows 7". Windows 7 is FAR superior to Vista which is a massive pig. But if you're on XP and it's working for you, there is no need to upgrade. If you have Vista and don't like it, then upgrade to Win7.

Steering well clear, can you imagine the updates, learning curve and bug fixes to start with, though they certainly have the pockets to develop a major player
