That's your view. But I would assume most people would not have hesitation in recommending a good person in anything. I also did not aim that post at seo recommendation, I also asked people in the seo industry to apply.

I have used many services through forum recommendations or through posts. So far 99% have been good people. My accountant is through the forums, my website designer is through the forums, graphic/website designer (kip) is also through the forum, and few other services. So far it's worked out for me. If Kip or Steve said to me I would recommend this guy, then I would give serious thought to it. I could see some people wanting to hold on to so called business secrets. But we are all small businesses, otherwise we would not be on these forums. Also I have recommended my accountant to a number of people through the forums with no financial gain. I wasn't worried that he might get busy and stop looking after me. That's just me.

My business is IT Services, all my other sites, are just dummy sites for now. You will see that they are not finished, contents missing. If anyone ever wants to buy them, then they will be sold. I am just letting it sit.

On a seperate note, I know you did not like my site design that much before...what do you think now?

I preferred the original to be honest. But that's just my personal visual tates.

I would recommend a lot of things as I do every week for all sorts of things, but I wouldnt recommend someone who was great at SEO for getting me to Google page 1 for the phrase 'web design' (this is merely an example keyword).

It's not the same as recommending my printer or an accountant. I only mean for not recommending someone who perfomred a service that could perform a same service to a competitor that would in fact help them do better than me in that sense, I didnt mean that we should not recommend anyone at all for any service.

I respect your view. Some people did like the original. But design is a matter of taste. This site works towards what I am trying to achieve.

Regarding the other matter, again I respect your view, but my approach is completely different. I am not saying mine is right and yours is wrong...each to his own. I don't see most of the other small IT Support Companies as threats or competition in the way that some people do. Firstly, there is plenty of business out there for everyone. I actually work and collaborate with some of smaller IT Support companies like mine. Some people find my approach refreshing, others are cautious. But the way I look at it, our competitors are often the bigger companies. And we have united forces or collaborated on projects/shared knowledge, we have always won. I am 90% glass full person.

why not share it kip?

A few reasons, one, Ryan is not just a forum member, he is also a client, and I would call him a friend too, so I decided to make it more personal for him. Two, a bit of inside stuff I know about Nikki and her Team (Very Positive by the way) as they are also regular clients of mine.

As I have already mentioned who I recommend, there are no black ops going on, I just like to help my own. And the info I had for him was not for everyone.

Hope that helps

ah and I completely would agree with you and that's the point I was making above. Some things you just don't share with others. Except paying customers

I heard Steve or someone mention here the other day how difficult it is to find a good SEO person and that they would only go by recommnendation now.

Well, I want to hear from non SEO businesses. I would like to know who you used, and if you would recommend them...good value? yes, no?

If you are an SEO person, and you want to say how good you are, then let us know your most difficult campaign or keyword. The bottom line is would your customers be willing to give you references. I asked someone the other day what sites they did....they gave me a list, there was no way to prove or disapprove that they did these sites.

When people take out IT Support packages with us, they ask to speak to existing clients, so if we can provide references, then you should be able to do the same!

Hi,

I am new to this forum but hope to become a valued member over time. As i am new i know what i have to say doesn't hold much weight (at the moment).

Me and my business partner run an SEO business and our team have had some very good results, for both small/medium sized local companies and a few larger companies (one of which trades in the UK and Europe). I would prefer not to list my clients here and i know a lot of them would not like to be listed. However, Scootek, I would be willing to have my team work on a keyword for one of your sites and we'll rank it for you. Then you will know how good we are and you'll be able to give honest feedback to the other members of this forum.

If you haven't found someone to take care of your SEO yet then let me know and we can talk further.
