iPad - Good or bad, your thoughts

I have been looking at geting an iPad but recently read a number of bad reviews about them basically looking pretty, but lacking in real productivity capabilities, e.g. USB, support of external storage and a wide range of other issues.

What are your opinions? Experiences with the mighty iPad?

Know a few people who have them, and having had various demos, and appropriate coo'ing and ahh'ing, it's what I suspected, a fantastic shiny gadget which is great for showing pictures or watching films

Unless you're a creative type, with its short comings, I still struggle to see a business justification for it, that can't be handled by your Mac/PC/lappie.

But do I want one? Yep

I really want one, but saving for a Merc in January, but that is why apple is so cool, they own the "want" factor.

But all said and done, I could use it for work (one of the few) but once I have laid out a sites design, it is all backend build for me, so I could quite easily do it anywhere, in front of NCIS, Grand Designs etc!

Same here - if I found one under the Christmas tree I would be very excited because, hey, shiny new tech! But I don't want it enough to actually put it on my Christmas list (there are other things I would rather have) and certainly not enough to save up the money on it.

I want an android pad, just too may dodgy Chinese companies knocking them out at the moment.

as soon as one of the big boys get 1 sorted with HD and a HDMi connection I will be purchasing one.

Yeah, I've heard some bad reviews about it. But I don't mind I still want to have an Ipad. That's why I'm saving my money so that I can buy this Christmas.

Can live without it. But if somebody drops by and hand me one -- Thanks! Big big apple products fan!

As for productivity -- it depends on your work or rather how you would want to work with it. I tend to lean on KISS (keep it simple stupid)

Android tablets is way way behind iPad (imo) -- in terms of.... well I haven't touch one so out of my reach??!?!, meaning I haven't found people around me toting a tablet that is not an iPad.
