Google is making more changes to its search algorithm, the company reportedly confirmed at the SMX Advanced conference in Seattle this week.
Google's Matt Cutts said that his company plans to launch Panda version 2.2 at some point in the near future.
This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites--sites which are low-value
but it might not affect as many sites as its major update in February and the subsequent algorithm change in April

Fortunately we avoided any panda problems but I think some of the sites such as directories I have used over the years got a hammering. I hope the 2.2 version might help some of these as they were actually quiet good in parts. highlandspring
Hmm interesting stuff We've done ok so far out of the Panda updates, although had to do a quick fix on our directories to remove duplicate content penalties (same page but with multiple categories). For us, this was a simple case of adding 301 redirects and we've been given the thumbs up from google. But shall be watching for further tweaks very closely!

But I would like to know, what about the shopping sites like eBay or Amazon, which have their cTLD versions but same look and content(except few words and the currency symbol)?
@ Akash vary good questions! this is on my mind too and i am also looking a answer because the sites i am working on have also same look and content RoseMary3
“@ Akash vary good questions! this is on my mind too and i am also looking a answer because the sites i am working on have also same look and content” I am asking the same question in many forums. Unfortunately I am not getting any satisfactory answer yet. I would be thankful if the proper answer can be found.
Big brands seem immune to the panda - maybe its because they have equally big lawyers and wallets? highlandspring
OK, but I wonder if there is any Official announcement from Google itself.
I have seen this personally I still say you have nothing to worry about as long as your website has allot of value and good titles and isnt filled full of junk then you will be ok if you have been doing some grey hat SEO then you will of course take a massive hit Thanks, Kevin.Wiles
Be a friendly SEO through following Panda guidelines. Panda wants fresh and relevant articles. Make sure that it is unique. Always remember to build the trust with Google panda and everything will also follow. |
