It's a mixed bag, different people have different opinions.

As mentioned in this thread from a while ago some struggle to get on to it as the process is done by people rather than robots!

It's free so it can do no harm to submit your site.

Go for it, if you get in, tell us how you did it! I never seem to have any luck

When you submit your site to Dmoz, just take care that you use your business name as a title and a proper description. Never use your targeted keyword for submission. Also, choose correct category and region. This will help you at some points to get your submission approved.

That's true. Though it does depend how many editors there are for your category as to how soon (or not) your listing request will be reviewed.

Tut, tut. Happy to say I have no control over the categories you'd be after and certainly not open to corruption!

I've had some limited success getting in. I always try to see how the majority of the other sites describe themselves - and use that as a guide for how I describe my business. So, I try to use the same formatting & order (with synonyms). I figure, if they like the other people's way of doing things, won't hurt to follow their lead.

I would be interested to see if you're able to do it. If you're able to use what others do as a guide, then you will probably be successful.
