Heart and Soul Disco
Apple or PC
We started off using a PC when we were DJ`ing to run the software but after the numerous times we had issues with the PC, I finally got a Mac and have not looked back. It runs the software very smoothly, and also when I go and visit clients and pull out the Mac, I do feel a lot more professional. ![]() Heart and Soul Disco
I've been using Macs for several years now. My latest Macbook Pro with retina display would be very difficult to give up and replace with a PC. Yes they are over-priced and I am not one of these people that worships the brand - however, the attention to detail Apple give their products is a step above. I enjoy using my Mac, yet when I think back to my PC days there always seemed to be an issue with it. SB1 Design Affordable Web Design & SEO from
If you have the money to spare, buy a Mac, they're really are beautiful bits of kit, they're a joy to use and they retain their value. There are arguments for and against, but the decision will be on whether you want to afford it or not. I'd say three other things. If you use an iPhone or iPad, they all integrate together perfectly - the first time that claim is actually is true. Secondly, don't take much notice about the hardware inside Macs being the same as PCs, it certainly can be fairly close if you set out to do it, but obviously never exactly - but the real point is that Apple is in total control of both the firmware, software and hardware and there are therefore no weird driver issues and things work properly all the time. Microsoft have no idea what their operating software will have to work with. I was fine with Windows 7, but Windows 8 on a PC is just awful.

My workhorse lappie is starting to creak. Always used to swear by HP's but last 2 Pavillions have both suffered from overheating probs. Prob dust, but blasting out with air doesn't seem to clear it and I can't be bothered to start opening the thing up. My win 7 seems to be dogged with mem probs, which with 16GB is nuts. Quad core, but open photoshop and 2 chrome sessions with outlook and it grinds to a halt. Can't imagine life without an IPhone and writing this on an iPad. So for the first time ever, I'd seriously consider a Mac. But I am die hard windows, so guess I need to spend some time in Currys playing with a mac and see how I get on

As a complete non techie. i get given a lappy as a work horse, it dies usually within 2 years ( i have a gift!) sometimes 3, i have no idea if Mac or PC is the way to go. But picking up on the residual value, as a business i thought PC's de-value over a number of years (i think its 3years) so why does it matter that a Mac retains its value if in the accountants eyes its worth pretty much nothing after its shelf life? That's an accounting decision that you are free to make, but it doesn't affect the assets actual value. If you say that your Macbook is written off in the accounts after three years it doesn't mean that you can't still sell it for say, £300 cf a laptop which is likely, as you say, to be actually worthless. cjd

Fair point - hadn't thought of it that way Clive

Well was only saying about my laptop breaking abilities - left my desk to make a coffee, came back to a message on my screen, harddrive imminent failure! No idea what ive done, but this machine is definitely under 3 years old - another one destined for the bin! Clive |
