Gadgets are hot on the list for tougher security checks for USA flights i was reading on Ceefax this morning.

If you can't power up your device at the Security check at the airport its not travelling with you! Didn't state what happened to the device if you couldn't power it up.

Whilst i get the increased risks and welcome any security that keeps me safe whilst 10's of thousand of feet in the air i wonder what would happen if i used my battery up playing games/texting/emailing etc sat in the airport.

Wonder if i would be allowed to charge the phone in the security check to prove it wasn't a dummy device?

Edit to earlier post -

If you do turn up with a discharged device, according to Heathrow Security you will directed to the nearest shop where you can purchase a charger & then charging point to allow you to charge said item

If you want you can utilise the Mail and Fly facility which you can mail your item home at your expense or it will be held at its warehouse for around 40 days

Heard on the news this morning they are extending this to other "unspecified" destinations, not just USA as previously reported

World really is getting more paranoid and mad!

Flying is becoming tedious, belt and boots off, check kids drinks, now make sure your lappie and phone is charged...

Yep can now see the attraction of holidaying at home - but will see how i get on at Birmingham Airport in 3 weeks before i make any sweeping statements
