It's often overlooked- especially at the start of a new business (arguably the most important and beneficial time) but applying for a registered trademark could be one of the best things you can do for your business. You can apply for a trademark for a product or a service- so your new cosmetic range or your new job as a plumber! it needs to be amongst other things, distinctive and non descriptive. Its interesting you can register a dormant ltd company for £15 but that only stops people registering a company name not a brand or trademark. if sone tries to pinch a trademark you can contest it even if you didnt tegister it first. This then has to be paid for and you have to prove that the trademark belings to you.
