According to channel insiders, Nokia Corp, the world’s largest mobile phone maker is working on its own Internet tablet to follow Apple’s move. The device will be available in the market later this year, sources said.

It is reported that besides Nokia, many other PC vendors and mobile phone makers like HP and Samsung are also working on the new category of devices that come in between PCs and Smartphones.

Last week, Apple has introduced its iPad tablet in the market and sold more than 300,000 iPads on the very first day. The sales outperform market expectations and copied the iPhone’s debut in 2007.

Last year, the mobile phone maker had re-entered in the laptop segment and also introduced N900, its mobile internet device. Further, the company had joined hands with the largest chip maker, Intel to develop MeeGo platform by integrating Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo platforms.

It seems that the MeeGo platform is aimed mostly at the tablet market.

Thank You.....

If your going to quote items from mashable at least say so, and just copying and pasting is a bit lame, whats your thoughts on this?
Personally im looking forward to the HP version with windows 7 and multiple webcams on it.

hmmm, suspected it was C+P job

Still can't see what market tablets or devices between smartphones and lappies are aimed at, so still reserving judgement

Really? I love the idea of having a tablet lying about the house and being just easier to share in the living room and look up the odd things online, or have a wierd app to control the stereo on, or even the curtains....
It wont replace my keyboard for when i want to actually get things written down, i mean i can type faster than i can write so the keyboards here to stay for a while...
makes me wonder, how many people are going to get a table and straight away plug a mouse or keyboard into it? haha

*cough*

It is possible that the coffee table in my lounge is an old yet functional Dell Poweredge with a sheet of perspex over the top to protect it from spills.

Telephone companies have been producing same products with different features and people get excited about the latest in technology and make sure they have one despite its expensive price..
But these phones are designed to meet the changing needs and demands of the users... so let's just see what more can these gadgets do for us and how do they differ from one another.
