Thanks,
John

can you notice the website doesn't reflect meter payments, different dates, also we used to pay  £12 a week off the bill they put it down without telling anyone to £6.00 they didn't ask. taking longer to pay. this all happened from 2012.i only found out by the online account i signed up for.i didnt even recieve the £3200 bill, they just added it

The only reason i found out was the ombudsmen.i have too much correspondance to put here.i tried watchdog twice i now took your advice and contacted martin lewis there team came straight back more than the bbc did, sorry to drive you all mad with this

thanks for all your and members help

Thanks,

as you can see if anything ive been overcharged for years, since the new meter was installed in 2012

Hi John

I took EON to task over their lack of customer service recently over believe it or not meter reading! (as per Barney's post, they hadnt read mine in over 2 years)

They threatened me with Court action if i didnt let them read my meter - simple i said pop round any time after 6pm. Their meter readers only work until 5pm and you have to jump through hoops to get one after that.

A most unpleasant experience, 4 threatening letters later i decide to go to Ombudsman. They found in my favour but got a poultry amount in compensation, but they did say EON should change their hours for meter readers.

Whichever utility provider you are with, you are a number not a customer and they seem to be able to dictate what they like with very little "customer service" unless you have the patience to take them to task.

One thing i don't get though, is if you have given them meter readings why haven't they confirmed the charges, or are they saying you have used £3200 with their readings, in which case sounds like you have either a faulty meter or as Barney suggests is it that they have under charged you somehow?

Good luck with your Court case ”

I know it's not a laughing matter (I personally wouldn't pay it) but the good news is according to the bill, you're on their cheapest tariff....

Seriously though, I wouldn't pay it if you can prove that you've made regular bill payments and can prove that previous bills were always lower than they are now I cannot see how they won't back down. Your current bill should tally with the current meter reading, can you not work backwards to see where the discrepancy took place?

Thanks,
Barney

What I'm not understanding is, is according to your bill, your nearly £2k in credit at some point, yet your still paying them... sometimes 2 or 3 times a day... Why? Why did you pay £364 in the month of December 2013 when the majority of people are paying between say £45 - £70 a month for electricity. I know when you started this thread you said you only live in a flat, so to be paying £364.00 on an electricity bill a month... none of it is making much sense to me. Just out of interest why did you get the meter changed as this seems to be when the problem started and if you are all electric are you on a cheap rate tariff? If not why not?

Thanks,
Barney

Hi Barney,

we seem to have got in debt with them pre 2011

we are paying on a prepaid meter, the bill for £3200 took a year to come through by this time we had put that amount in the meter so was showing a credit, the idea of a pre paid meter is you pay so much off your bill and for the electric used, we cant get any electric if you dont pay,so how did we get electric if the bill was so high

but it should have covered the amountof the bill, You cant get free gas on a prepaid meter,i hope that makes sense, how did we generate that high a billin a year or even 13 months, npower didn't send any bills then

the ombudsmen found in our favour but only gave us £221 plus £150 compensation i didn't feel that was good enough,i asked if they could go by an average over the previous and years since which would still be around £1200 a year alot>? they refused, that's why i have gone to court

We pay around £1000 a year gas as well as this electric,if you look at what others pay we are £900 more a year according to them, you can see why we are totally confused, but if we dont put money in the meter we don't get electric, alot of people with pay as you go are the same as me,i hope i am highlighting it all to everyone to check.as you cansee its driving you mad imagine you being the same as us and lots more on them

over charged and not getting anywhere with help, i have drove you and the forum enough problems and headaches but if i can highlight this for others it wil be worth it.

Make sure everyone signs up for the online account to check. thats the only way i found out about the £3200 bill as it was never sent to me, the payments were put in at the WRONG times so showed lots of payments together, now i cant even access my daily on line account as it seems to be frozen since the court action. They do what they want.

HOPE ITS NOT TO MUCH TO BEAR,LETS HOPE EVERYONE CHECKS, PLEASE DONT LEAVE IT TO NPOWER
