Kpi, various people who have gone to the domain can see the website. Only this guy, and he said one other lad, have got the holding page. That's what is frustrating. I left his house went back to my office, plugged laptop back into my ethernet and I can see the website. But hey guess what, a momentary update - he rang me this aft to ask how to run the cmd for the flushdns so I talked him through that, he got a message saying it couldnt find the file or something to that effect, so I said lets leave that one then, then he went to check the site and voila!!! It was there, he could finally see the website and he logged into the cms and made an edit saved and saw the update on said site! Yayy!! Or so we thought ![]() He then went out for a few hours, came back tonight and went to try again to do some updates and lo and behold the damned 123-reg page is back - now fathom that one out!! ![]() @ 123-Reg - I cannot PM you as you dont have thje PM facility yet as you are new member. Can you email your email address to me? info (at) indizine.co.uk - I dont want to drop it here in public seeing as its not 100% yet. Thanks indizine indizine
“He then went out for a few hours, came back tonight and went to try again to do some updates and lo and behold the damned 123-reg page is back - now fathom that one out!! ![]() I'll put money on its his local ISP DNS server with a record problem. If everyone in the world can see it ok apart from him, and the router is out of the equation, as it's been replaced, and so's the pc, because you saw the same problem using his internet connection, then it has to be ISP and local DNS. Try pointing the router to an alternative DNS server: Google Public DNS
Yeah someone on A1BF suggested that earlier, so will try that next however in the meantime and IT guy he knows gave him another fix which has allowed him to view the website in Firefox (but not IE) going into windows and then hosts ect or something and entering the website address into there. Apparently as a temporary measure. Well it seems to have worked but not a full fix. We will try the DNS suggestion later see if that sorts it out. Meanwhile he says a friend of his also got the 123-reg page yesterday too. indizine indizine
“Meanwhile he says a friend of his also got the 123-reg page yesterday too.” bet his mate's pointing to the same ISP ![]() |
