Has anyone found that the weather has affected the buisness? if so how ?
As a carpet and upholstery business we have take the precautions of bringing our equipment indoors over night so the pipes dont freeze this in return has brought work that others in the business have had to cancel I'd guess because they hadnt taken this precaution.
After two weeks of gardening duties I have once again found myself in the position of being fully booked into the next week.
With Letting agents slowing down for the festive season this is a major boost to our buisness.
SNOW!!!!!!............ long live advese weather

“Has anyone found that the weather has affected the buisness? if so how ?” Hope it doesn't affect yours too much, relying on you guys to breathe some cleanliness into my house this week ![]() I suppose this is the advantage of an online business, if we can't get into the office, we can divert the phones and operate from home. From a product point of view, we tend to a few more people signup during bad weather, as I suppose our core audience, small businesses use the time to catch up with their admin and marketing?
So, with 10 cm of snow the country comes to a halt. People who arranged meetings with me (private and business) 1 or 2 weeks ago have been cancelling the visits. One of them told me today: "I cannot get my car out of the drive". He is local so I know he does not have a 50cm layer of ice outside. They closed my daughter's school, why? because the teachers are not going to the school. We were more than ready -and able- to take our daughter to school. The teachers cannot (will not) make it. My car is broken so yesterday I made a trip, I had to make, by bus. If this country had Russian weather it would have ceased to exist a long time ago. Thanks, sourcepro

We have around 10-12 inches in our gardens in most places. Thats not including the drifts built in the corners. Not sure what everyone else has suffered. Luckily we can work from home with our computer & phone equipment and some files which luckily we went in and brought home yesterday expecting the worse today, and we have someone in the premises as they only live down the road from there, so they are manning it there so we have all bases covered. I can even watch Jezza in my lunch break!! indizine indizine
Please lord, you don't mean Jeremy Kyle? ![]() We've got 1/2 an inch of snow, so naturally the County has ground to a halt and I've had to buy some wellies for the little one.
It doesn't affect me at all as I work from home. I have got 18" of snow here, I live on quite a busy road ( a bus and police route) and its closed down! And it is still snowing - heavily! However, I gave myself the day off! The depth of the snow and the overwhelming urge to be a kid again was too tempting. Yep it's been snowball fights, sledging and snowman building for me today ![]()
If this country had Russian weather, then it would be worthwhile for people to invest in snowsuits, snow boots, chains for their tyres, lagging for their pipes... we'd be set up to deal with it. But we're in the UK where as I recall for the last decade or so we've had the occasional two or three days of snow per year. It's just not cost-effective to prepare for snow in the UK. Business-wise it's not making much difference to me at all, since barring the occasional face-to-face client meeting I'm almost entirely based online. On a personal level it's a little bit bizarre. I can't get around the block to post a letter, because we're on the edge of a residential estate and the pavements are pretty much sheet ice with snow-covered dog-turds (I'm not even going to consider taking the wheelchair into the road where inexperienced car drivers are wheelspinning and skidding all over the place). However yesterday I went to the Birmingham Christmas Market, where although it was snowing, the footpaths were all absolutely clear. It just feels very strange that of the two outings, it was the twenty minute wander to the postbox that was the big dangerous impossible one. PS Clive, have you grown a beard? If so, sorry for not saying hello yesterday, I didn't recognise you properly. If not, then I must apologise to the bearded stranger I was squinting at... VirtuallyMary |
