Choosing keywords people actually search for.

tomsk

Main factor is not copying and pasting the same thing across 20 forums

As we all are familiar with SEO, blah blah blah yawn...

It`s bad comparison. SERP of course is more important because it leads visitors to your site and they can be converted to customers. PR by itself doesn`t matter. PR infuences SERP sure but not always.

True, high PR will make for a high authority site, and thus, will allow it to show prominently on SERPs.

Gah, my eyes! To add insult to injury, the question doesn't even make sense.

I'm confused though, there doesn't seem to be any backlink benefit in the posts I clicked on? I can only guess the threads are intended as primers for later spammers who come along and post links.

Just old fashioned post counting. Most moderated forums have to make people do x many posts to try and weed out the spammers, so they then try and do quick copy and paste posting.

Just part of the overhead of managing a forum, and having some great moderators

PR is page rank, which is a number, from 1 to 10, that Google assigns your website based on a number of factors such as how much traffic your website receives. Generally, higher PR sites rank higher than lower ones, but not necessarily.

SERPs are the search engine results pages. So, when you search for "atlanta pet store" the pages of results that show up, with 10 results on each page... all of those pages are the SERPs.

PR is important (along with many other factors) to increase your placement on the SERPs

I think both seo & pr are very important, when you increase your website backlinks automatically increase your PR.

PR is just a measure of the links you have coming into your site.

Its quiet different from SERPS which is how you perform for different phrases.

A couple of single PR 6 links can give you page a PR of 3 or 4. But the impact on SERPS is nothing when compared to the impact that 100's or 1,000's of related links can give you. Especially if they have your keywords in their links (known as anchor text)

Hope that helps!
